Make Hay, Not War

Regarding this whole Daria/Animaniacs/PatB/Underdog USA Weekend voting Debacle.

Despite being a Darianite, I'm not here to condemn or condone either side. I'm not here to argue about whether ballot-box stuffing is ethical or not. I'm not here to say whether one cartoon is better than the other.

I am here to make an alternative proposal, one which I believe to be in the spirit of both Daria and the Warner Siblings, one in which ALL sides can participate, without flaming each other, and directing our efforts against a common foe...

We all know that the USA Weekend Poll is fundamentally flawed, as demonstrated by the fact that some people have engines running that can flood the system with votes. Some people have complained to USA Weekend about the unfairness and cheating taking place. Has USA Weekend done anything to correct the problem? Have they 8@11@ck$...

Frankly, I'm done jumping through USA Weekend's Hoop, by voting in their ultimately pointless contest. I'm thinking maybe we should show them just how flawed their contest is. One way of breaking the system is by pushing it to it's limit...

My proposal is this: "1,000,000 Votes for The Tick".

The next contest is "Bobby's World" Vs "The Tick". As much as I like Bobby's World, the little tyke's on his own as I believe The Tick would win in a fair contest; that is, the Tick has a stronger fan base.

What I would like you, the people of alt.tv.animaniacs, alt.tv.daria, and indeed, the people at atPatB (someone pass this onto them, please!), is to warm up those Voting Engines, and flood the USA Weekend Poll with votes for The Tick. This is about exploiting the flaw in the system To The Max. The aim is to create a majority so incredible, so fantastic, so overblown, that the result is _meaningless_. A result which shows that the voting system can be SO rigged it's unfunny.

I'm probably being hopelessly idealistic; can two disparate groups of people, with obvious hostility to one another resolve their differences and combine their efforts for a common purpose?

I've said my piece, it's over to you now.

OK but as long as we agree that after this the scrips come down.

Or to screw with the USA poll even better, have the final vote end in a tie, with a couple of million votes each.

Also, something I've only just noticed... There's some Pundit offering their comments on why we vote the way we do. For example, he says that Daria, and the Simpsons beat the Smurfs and Rocky and Bullwinkle, because the latter two deal with fantasy, while the former have a more "realistic" outlook on social issues. Now, as Bobby's world is a "realist" type, and The Tick is pure escapist fantasy, there's even more of an incentive for us to vote for the Big Blue Guy. ;) I'd like to see what he has to say about the results of Daria Vs Underdog...

Oh, and while I'm thinking of it... john_william has expressed an interest in taking down the javascript voters after this round. Frankly, you'd better hang onto them, as A! is up against Gargoyles, and that's a real heavy hitter...

I don't know why you find us annoying for giving you a taste of your own medicine. At any rate, I don't plan to post to atd any more, since there's no reason to do so.
