Wait a minute. . .

Does anyone else find it odd that the marathon will be going on from 10:30 pm to 10 am, when most people (even the most avid Daria fans) are asleep? Sure, I've got a timer on my VCR, but still!

What's odd about it? MTV's been treating Daria like a red haired step-child* for a long time. Why should it change it now? Besides, the show is no longer in production. It isn't like we'll have a Season 6 in February (well maybe in a parallel universe but definitely not in ours). So why would MTV go out of it's way to preempt any of it's running programs to show a Daria marathon?

Heaven forbid Daria should interrupt a Road Rules or Real World marathon!

I guess we'll take what we can get.

Besides, I've got a timer on my VCR too and it works fine.

The biggest thing in the way of that, I think, is that the bulk of MTV's animation is stuff that lasted a single season and then dissapeared into the mists. The exceptions are things like B&B and Daria.

I think the only way Daria might be syndicated was if either Cartoon Network decided to pick up some stuff like The Maxx and Aeon Flux for their Adult Swim thing and ended up getting stuff like Daria and Downtown with it (even in the unlikely event that they did get the first two, odds are they wouldn't get the others) or if some sort of "Cult TV" channel came along which managed to somehow get a bunch of old MTV stuff (again, unlikely, unless it was a network Viacom launched themselves).

The good news is that advancing technology always seems to give us a few new choices we didn't have a few years earlier.

Many (most?) of the shows seen on TVLand are from an era when there were 3 networks (in the USA, often fewer in other countries), no VCRs. You saw a first-run episode or its (one-time) rerun and that was it.

Unless you lived long enough to see TVLand come to pass.
