I watched "Legends of the Mall" tonight. They really heavily edited the "House of Bad Grades" segment, cutting out any mention of people dying in a nuclear war. And does anyone know if Noggin has ever played "My Night At Daria's?"

Going back a-ways, why are they censoring Tiny Toon Adventures? Unlike WB's Merrie Melodies back in the 1930s, Tiny Toons was geared toward children to begin with.

All I can really say is if Time Warner were to somehow get the rights to the enemy's show, what exactly would Daria bring to the table that would be acceptable, taking in consideration the audience Adult Swim is marketed to, and possibly the format of the programming. The only shows that, IMO, maintain the same kind of pace that Daria carries are Home Movies and Mission Hill, and from what I've read on message boards (Despite the fact that those don't stand for much), those are the least-watched shows on the lineup.
I look at what Adult Swim is, and then I look at Daria, and I think "Hey, Daria's kinda tame compared to this", and in reality, she is. She's the tweener with Noggin and Adult Swim. She's not innocent enough for little kids, but on the other hand she's not exactly vulgar nor crude.

I wouldn't rule out a possible shift to Comedy Central or some similar channel. It has been seen in the UK on Paramount Comedy and Channel 5 (PC is showing the first series, while C5 showed the fifth series towards the end of last year). It's a matter of seeing what can be done to sell it to such a channel, always supposing that the series is available to such an offer of course!
I've already put my 2 cents in on the Comedy Central idea. Let me restate my rationale <ahem>
1) Comedy Central is JOINTLY OWNED by Viacom and AOL TimeWarner. Therefore, there should be no conflict of interest in airing a Viacom-produced show.
2) CC is currently showing "Undergrads," another MTV Animation product. Again, no conflict-of-interest; this show is also targeted toward the upper end of "Daria"'s demographic (17 +).
3) CC cross-promotes shows like "South Park" on MTV and VH-1. (If they're advertising their shows on a supposed rival network, why not air a show produced by that same rival?)
4)"Daria" would fit in well with CC's other animated shows such as "The Critic," "Duckman," and the aforementioned "Undergrads." (I can envision a Daria/Undergrads hour -- the whole high school through college deal.)
I e-mailed CC two months ago and asked them to consider picking up Daria when it gets out of its Noggin purgatory. If you'd like to do the same, call their Viewer Services Line at 212-767-8600 (STILL can't get a toll-free number y'all -- sorry!) or e-mail them at mail@ comedycentral.com
In the meantime, can someone tell me why the N! won't air MNAD, but they'll air an episode of Degrassi where two 14-year-olds are contemplating having sex, right down to ordering condoms online with Mom's credit card?! (And remember, Degrassi airs BEFORE Daria!) Is sex between live-action teens less prurient than between cartoon teens? (I mean, it's DARIA -- not Fritz the Cat!)
And why is a block of shows aimed at the 12-17 audience on as late as 1AM? Don't they know that kids that age are usually in BED at that hour? And that they have no chance against more competitive and engaging programming -- [S]inemax After Dark? ;-)

Oh, god, that whole "independence" theme on Noggin was so forced that it made me want to puke. And that "conformity" they teach is the very antithesis of what Daria stands for.
It'd make sense if they did a spinoff called QUINN (something that'll actually make Daria panic, much less sick).
Both THE ELECTRIC COMPANY and SESAME STREET UNPAVED were THE reason for me to watch Noggin. But, when I first heard about the new 'N' program, and that said two shows were being cancelled in favor of it, I was pissed and lost interest in the channel altogether (until DARIA came on the lineup).
You just described my exact sentiment. DARIA is the ONLY series I'd watch on Noggin. The only drawback is having to endure commercials advertising and promoting that "pre-teen hell!" :)

An interesting theory is that Noggin is "punishing" Daria. Maybe Glenn or someone really really pissed someone off, so they put Daria onto this network where it doesn't really belong, giving them the excuse to cut it to shreds regardless of sometimes similar situations that happen on other shows like Degrassi?
I just got to watch an uncut version of "Lucky Strike". The substitute teacher "stroking Tiffany's hair" and Daria calling him a "pedophile" are cut, but The-N shows the first episode of Degrassi, which explicitly deals with a pedophile who pretends to be a young boy over the internet who wants to meet Emma, the lead female character in the show. When Emma tries to meet "the boy", she slowly discovers that there is no boy at all, as she and the "guide" or something that the boy was supposed to be traveling with go up to a hotel room to "wait" for the boy. Of course, nothing actually happens, because some of the kids and parents all find some clues and rush in to save the day.
The episode of Degrassi I just explained probably dealed with pedophiles much more severely than "Lucky Strike", but the references in Daria had to be cut to save the children's poor little ears?

Anyway, that's just what I think. Personally, I think that Daria will get cut back to only 2 showing a day (currently it is 5 showings, but the introduction of Clueless means that the ultra late showing at 2:30 AM or whatever it is is cut, according to the schedules at the-n.com) within the next 4 months, and then some time after that they'll remove it totally or delegate it to 1 showing in the early evening block where they stick old, out-of-production shows (Secret World of Alex Mack, Clarissa Explains it All, etc). I think they'll release the DVDs after that, though, and I'll pay whatever price they ask for them, within loose reason.

Daria IS out of place on Noggin, no need to really think on that issue. When you sit down to think about it, you'd only be sitting down for ten seconds. ;-)
As for going to Cartoon Network's Adult Swim, it's not a bad idea if Viacom/MTV would let it go. Also, I think the Williams Street Players could also be useful in promoting the show. While Daria could be aired at 8pm, the WSPs could air whole new episodes of the show. For those that don't know, the Williams Street Players are the ones responsible for the writing and producing of Space Ghost: Coast to Coast, Sealab 2021, and Aqua Teen Hunger Force. Daria could be animated in the same way, and the humor could be made to be more brash and vulgar to accomodate the College experience (And to maintain the Williams Street presence, George Lowe and C. Martin Croker {Space Ghost &Zorak/Moltar} have to get put in there somehow). Meanwhile, Quinn is a senior at Lawndale High, same rule applies, only this time they literally throw Brak (Played by Andy Merill) in as a student (And have him drool all over Quinn). The possibilities would be endless, but only if MTV would let Daria (And maybe the voice actors) go.

Chris...it wouldn't work without Glenn Eichler at the helm. Glenn *is* Daria. Arguably reuniting the Glenn Eichler/Susie Lewis team would be best of all, because it seems like Susie knows Jane better than anyone else, and her loss after S3 (or was it S4? My memory isn't 100% accurate) arguably resulted in Jane losing her personality and <arnie>being replaced by an alien replicant that certainly did not resemble the "real" Jane</arnie> ;-)
I don't think the Williams Street Players could possibly stand in for the real creative geniuses behind the series. Anything they would do would turn out to be a smug parody of the "real" Daria we know and love.
However, if Glenn got a shot at doing more real episodes of Daria chronicling her life at Raft University in Boston and chronicling Jane's adventures at Boston Fine Arts College (BFAC), it would really be cool. I would like to see people like Kara Wild and CE Forman added to the writing staff, as they are perhaps the fan writers with the best insights into the characters of the show.

For smug parody, you'd have to go to 'The Simpsons,' alas. (How are the mighty fallen...)

Imagine a Daria Fan wins a lot of cash a lottery, Las Vegas, Oil in the backyard, adopted by Bill Gates...etc. etc. etc.

What he/she/it would make out of it.
Now, if I can buy the rights and finance a new series, I won't continue it at a college. I will restart the series at Daria's first arrival in Lawndale showing new stories and more character devellopement for Jesse, Mack, Andrea, Tiffany etc. etc. etc. And of course I will keep the role of Tom as minimal as possible. Probably mentioned only as the mysterious "boyfriend", who never makes a real appearance.
