Minor news really but I finally got round to updating my letters page after neglecting it for a few months, so if you've mailed Cafe Shez in the last blue moon or two it should now be online, along with the odd image or two. See Mindy in her improbably short trenchcoat.... at least I think it's Mindy, I found the image on her website and she's holding a lethal looking weapon (a giant can opener?) so it must be her. Also on my Daria page, a drawing of Jane Lane the skateboarder, kindly donated by oneof my fans.
Oooh, more fantastic than ever, but one question about the LSC remains; the Round the Twist/ Discordian links - eh? I remember watching R.T.T and nothing strikes me as particually discordian about it, but maybe I just didn't notice. Is it still on?
To address the last Q. first, it isn't on at the moment (unless there's a satellite channel showing it?), but will doubtless turn up again in a year or so. I think the BBC have shown Round the Twist three times now; like most good children's tv series it tends to get repeated once every two years or so: presumably they assume their ageing audience has a quick enough turnover to enable them to get away with recycling the same material over and over in this way.
Re. the Discordian comment, I'm not sure I get your drift. I can't think of anything on my site which suggests a connection between Round the Twist and Discordianism. Indeed the only explicitly Discordian stuff I can think of offhand on my site is the obituary for Malaclypse the Younger, which is sited in a pretty obscure place! (More prominent of course is my link to the Thought Crime site, which I think links into discordian stuff amongst other things.)
OTOH maybe you just mean I cover both subjects, which comes about because they're both suitably weird and thus worthy of writing about. I still rate Round the Twist as one of the best TV series ever, sadly it doesn't get much coverage because it's not American, which means not many people on the Net will have heard of it. This somewhat discourages me from expanding my RTT page to the extent that I've done with my Daria pages: US viewers are unlikely to have seen it, as I understand that (with the exception of the public service network PBS) US TV networks have what I can only describe as a protectionist policy of only screening US-made TV series.
Yeah, maybe I should try writing an RTT fanfic. There was such variety in the second series in particular that you could really do a story about anything, I mean they covered hypnosis and past life regression, resurrecting the dead, cloning, disrupting the flow of time, obsessions, magical mushrooms, the environment, spirits, ghosts, pissing, bowel movements, all in all it's pretty amazing the stuff they got away with! I notice though that the last time the BBC repeated it they left the episode which featured the pissing contest until last, which spoiled the sequence but I suppose they were afraid someone would complain about such gross stuff and get the series cancelled. People are so prissy these days.
Oh that, that's just search engine fodder, hence its positioning at the beginning of the page, squeezed in between the graphics etc. It should only be visible for a couple of seconds until the background loads. I just crammed as many keywords as I could into a stream of consciousness paragraph about the site. The individual phrases are all true, but their juxtaposition is arbitrary.
Anyway that's all moot for the next few days - if you go back to my homepage now you will find it's all been replaced by a Halloween makeover. I haven't done the Halloween Daria section yet but the main site is there (URL in my sig as always).
People who've thoroughly explored my site may have seen the Halloween section before (I know Alli found it anyway), but I've made a couple of improvements here and there, and I should have a special Daria "photostory" up tomorrow to replace the regular Daria sub-site.

Is there a difference between Uberdew and UBER then? I've been assuming "uber" was just short for "uberdew".
Inspired by "The Making of Blair Witch" etc, I've now added part 1 of "The Making of Daria's Dream" to the above Daria page, giving a mythologised account of how I created "Daria's Dream".
UBER is a vile concoction of pretty much anything sugar-y or caffeine-y you can find, Uberdew is just pixy stix and Dew. If anyone's interested, I can post the UBER recipe (note: I am NOT responsible for what happens if you try to make use of this information).
