Yep, Eric was his name (until he ate a banana). The voice talent was provided by Graeme Garden, Tim Brooke-Taylor, and Bill Oddie, whose comedy show "The Goodies" had quite a following.

Bananaman is showing currently on BBC1 and BBC2, seemingly as a filler. It's next on at 1610 on Friday, on BBC1 (though this information will be of limited use to rich!).

BTW, and _a propos_ of nothing, I've been posted! I'll take up my new post in September, Somewhere In England (I know where, but can't say yet, out of courtesy to the person I'm replacing and the community I'll be serving: he's not yet told them he's moving). I hope they can get channel five in [blank], 'cos I'll be stuffed for seeing Daria if they can't!

Trapdoor is brilliant, I think I have an episode on tape somewhere, it was repeated a couple of years ago. Plasticine figures and disgusting cooking.

The Clangers is currently being rerun on C4 in the early hours of weekend mornings. Check out my TV guide. I don't know what time it's on at the mo', it seems to vary between around 3 and 5am. I was going to put up a bunch of Clangers pictures but I didn't get round to it. They look rather like pink knitted aardvarks and wander around a small planet whistling to each other. The Soup Dragon lives in the soup well and provides them with soup now and again. There's also the Iron Chicken that lives in a nest of scrap metal somewhere up in the black sky above (the Clanger's planet appears to have no atmosphere). And let's not forget the music tree which grows notes!

Don't the Clangers live on the Moon? I seem to recall an episode in which they hid from an Apollo moon-lander.

They released Bagpuss on video recently, along with Mary, Mungo and Midge, and a couple of others (including the Clangers, I think).

Idle thought regarding people's fond memories of (UK) childrens' TV programmes: Most of the programmes people mention are those shown during the early '80s, and rarely the late 70's. Nothing from before the Mid '70s (which is an obvious indicator of age, natch). My brother and I seem to be the only people who remember "Gideon" and "Noah and Nelly".
