Quinn Isn't That Bad

I used to think Quinn was a really self-absorbed snob, but she only acts like that on the outside. In TOATB, I could tell she was really thinking, and didn't like Sandi's ideas but of course they all had to interrupt her. I think that Tiffany and Stacy are just stupid followers, and Sandi IS a huge snob. But I think that Quinn, deep down she isn't a bad person. I think that in later episodes Quinn and Sandi will fight and she will probably "resign" from the Fashion Club. At least I hope this happens.....what do you all think?

She seems as though she would win any FC battle, considering the numbers at least. We know Staci would stay devoted to her, and Tiffany would side with whoever looks like they're going to win, who I think would be Quinn. On that basis alone, couldn't they vote Sandi out of power, with Quinn ascending to the presidential spot? Hopefully in that sort of situation she would use the FC power for good purposes...

Fight breaks out (figuratively). Tiffany is going to side with Sandi, simply because of the power of the Presidency over the VP. That leaves Staci the choice of siding up with Quinn in what I would consider a 1&3 vs 2&4 in the old pecking order, which I don't think she'd do. Quinn would clearly be the one to lose this scenario. Look at the implied parallel's between Helen and Staci's mom. Who usually wins their little games?

Staci is just Quinn blown up a few more degrees of meanness.

She has her good sides. She's more immature and thoughtless than evil.

Tiffany's as vacant as the interstellar void, Stacy seems to be nice but insecure (following Sandi because she's afraid of being friendless).

I don't see that happening for a while, though..... Quinn is not entirely confident about herself to take a stand like that. I hope that the writers will continue in that direction.

She's proven a number of times that she *isn't* stupid - she just ranks being popular far above school work (and openly admits it to her parents). For example in "Ill" when she tried to help out Daria - I didn't know what half the stuff in her purse did until she described their effects ;-) And in Quinn the Brain she did show she has a definite fashion sense separate from what the "color of the month" was in the magazines...and in Monster her behavior *after* she had been recorded demonstrated rather clearly that she *did* realize how shallow she was acting.

My personal opinion? Quinn is moderately more attractive, a bit less intelligent, and a lot nicer (because that makes her more popular) than Daria. I only say moderately more attractive because as witnessed in Quinn the Brain, Daria *does* have a figure underneath that jacket ;-)

Off topic aside - Daria *is* deeply jealous of Quinn's popularity - something shown as early as The Invitation when Kevin asks if Daria can ask Quinn to come to a party. The look on her face basically screams "You're asking *me* to a party??!". And the way she acts in Quinn the Brain is absolutely priceless - now Quinn's considered a "Brain" and she's *still* popular! How can Daria compete?

Anyway - enough gabbing for now...gotta finish this race writeup before the host drops me from his game :P
