Hello, everyone. Luv the show. One nit about the group: is it _really_ necessary to have a billion or so lines of spoiler space when the subject says "Spoiler" or the episode name?
I don't see any copyright on this, or "Official 'Fresh Fish!' Dispenser of ATD" in Kyle's sig. And so, as we give thanks for the magic of cut-n-paste, this is for you, Bettster:
On Wed, 04 Aug 1999 03:01:23 GMT, some letters randomly coalesced from individual pixels, claiming to be from "PeterTHX" , and it said:
Yes. It is. You see that one key in that little rectange of keys between the number pad and the letters? You see that one with the words, "Page Down." Gooooood. Push it when you see spolier space.
I prefer that to reading spoiler messages when either the Aussies or the Britts are getting new eps before me. That or I just miss the Wednesday showing and have to wait 'till saturday.
Well in fact that's what did happen - US MTV stupidly postponed their showing of the second part of season three, but Australian MTV went ahead as originally scheduled, followed by Channel 5 in the UK shortly afterwards.
We've been living with the resultant chaos ever since. After three such non-US premieres, they suddenly dried up. I don't know what happened in Australia, but in the UK, MTV seem to have bought Channel 5 off by letting them do free reruns of Season 1 so that the US could get ahead again. We now have a situation where Americans have seen the final three or four episodes whilst in the UK we're still stuck watching repeats from a couple of years ago, with no end in sight.
One trouble is that Channel 5 is such a low-budget channel that I wouldn't put it past them to get maximum mileage out of the freebies by repeating all the previous episodes that MTV will allow, and end up having no scheduling slots left to show the news ones, and end up postponing them until next year or something stupid. I really must write to them and impress on them how extraordinarily important it is that they show the remaining season three episodes as soon as possible!
In the meantime I'm having to amuse myself by following the career of tennis sensation Jelena "Daria" Dokic, and by turning pictures of atd readers into little Darias to put on my website.
And I don't have any quotes. At all. Maybe I should just put in what I've just finished listening to. But "Shiny shiny sha-na-na-na!" just doesn't have that je ne sais quoi. ;)
(for those of you curious, I've just finished listening to Haysi Fantayzee's "Shiny Shiny"...yes, I'm still with "Living in Oblivion"...and this is a really catchy song...I'm liking it!)
"Shiny Shiny", by Haysi Fantayzee. It's a new wave song from the early '80s. You know. Don't tell me you don't. At least you've heard of it...? At least the new wave bit? And you can't say this is showing my age because I'm 20....
I'm _really_ bad with names (I'm 32 BTW), so I probably have heard it, but don't know the title and/or artists (there's LOTS of songs I like that I never find out who sings it, damned wacky DJ's almost never say). Or I promptly forget. I guess I'm a lot like Jake.
"Honestly, Jake, sometimes I wonder if you know even the most rudimentary facts about our girls. How old is Quinn?"-Helen "Uh, eleven... ish?"(Helen looks pissed)" That was a guesstimate!"-Jake "Jake, what's my middle name?"-Helen "It's got a 'K' right?"-Jake
(breathes sigh of relief) I thought you were going to go and say you were only a teenager or something. Thanks for being 30+. Don't worry...there's this one song that's coincidentally just finished playing on the radio that I don't know the name/artist of either..."that's the time I feel like making love to you" is one of the lines on the song...and no, that's not the main reason why I like it, I like it because it's laid back, which is the reason I like Sade's music, it's slow flowing liquid elixir for the stresses of real life.
LOL. No, no one could get *that* bad unless he/she is slowly progressing to a life afflicted with Alzheimer's disease. (Or like Jake.)
I mean, even Grandma until the very end at least knew how old we were and she was 80 and an Alzheimer's victim.
Um, it's not like I _like_ being over 30, especially unattached and no children. I'd like to settle down!
"Look at that Daria, a fork in the trail. If you go one way, you can't go the other."-Jake "This is going to depress me, isn't it."-Daria "This one over here leads to an entry level job. Little bit of money in your pocket. Soon you're wearing a suit and tie everyday like those faceless saps! Living in a boring house! In a boring little town, and doing so well you're in debt up to your disappearing air! That's where that trail leads, Daria."-Jake

I consider myself "above average" (at least I test and speak that way) but names and faces...I'm not much better than 'ol Jakie. :-P
"Committed? Oh, I've been commited all right! I never had a trial!!"-Jake
There'll be time for that. But I do like that you're over 30, no matter whether or not you're attached. I'm so used to communicating online with older folks (usually around ages 28-29) that sometimes communicating with people around my age is hard, especially if they're not old souls like I am. And I can very easily look at someone only two years younger than I and look down at them like they were preschoolers.
LOL. Nothing like a little bit where the normally hyped up Jake is even more hyped up with the infamous "glitterberries".
That's OK...at least one other person on this ng (looks around) has problems with names. It's nothing to do with one's intelligence, it's just some little quirk one has. Sometimes, especially if I'm really tired, I'm bad with names. But other than that I'm pretty good. The one thing I can forget instantly is credit card numbers (I'm given plenty at work), which I guess is good because that means that at least 3,000 people can rest easily tonight knowing I won't use their credit card numbers.
LOL. That Jake. ;)
"She's a superfreak!"...*g*, now you know what I'm listening to now,
Duhhhh....that's that song he stole from MC Hammer, isn't it??? ;-)
"Dammit! Go to hell, you reckless bastard! My kid's got a rash! Ahh the damn window's up! I said: 'go to hell, you reckless...' hey, hey, get back here!!"-Jake
That would be "Feel Like Making Love" by Roberta Flack. Confusingly, she also had a chart hit with a song called "Making Love", from the feature film "Making Love", which I watched earlier today for...um...historical reasons. Well, it seems everything I heard about it was true. What a dull, dull film. I had trouble staying awake at points. Just goes to show that gay people can be every bit as boring as straights...which I already knew, but then, this film wasn't made for people like me. Obviously.

NO NO no! they weren't glitterberries! Glitterberries are the ones that make your mouth all shimmery. Before you spread your wings and fly away.....Ahh never mind.
Hmm. Well, anyway, pretty much anything discussing an episode is a spoiler.....
"A few days ago, my father had a heart attack, forcing me to admit his mortality to myself for the first time. Accepting this grim new knowledge has been especially difficult, as I've been under constant yammering assault by two utterly brainless and talentless so-called radio personalities. And so, for these reasons I, Daria Morgendorffer, am mental in the morning. "-Daria
