Did anyone else notice this on the episode "ill"?
(scene where Mack, Jodie, Jane, Kevin, and Brittney are gathered around Daria)
Jodie:So you're a little red, it could happen to anyone.
Then, Jodie and Mack glance at each other with a look of worry.
Jodie: Well, it could happen to a lot of people.
Could this imply that either Jodie or Mack had the exact same condition as Daria had towards Trent?

Yes, but that doesn't mean that they can't get a rash. Besides, what I'm asking is why would the animators have Jodie pause and rephrase her sentence without a reason.

Yes, blacks can get rashes, but they don't show up too well on camera.
Jodie paused and rephrased her sentence because she realized that the embarrassing symptoms couldn't happen to 'anybody' (including blacks), but instead could happen to 'a lot of people' (i.e. those of us who are pigmentationally challenged).
As for why Jodie was so quick to correct that oversight, I would speculate that she didn't want to appear patronizing (and you know what Daria does to those who patronize her!)

No. It implies that Jodie and Mack are black, and thus can't have a sudden flush when their skin turns from light pink to bright red; it wouldn't show up. The look was basically a recongnition of what Jodie was mentioning *last* episode: that there are no other black people in Lawdale. ("I feel I should be a role model to other African-Americans at school. Ooops! Where'd they go?")
