1.) The two episodes were not mangled. Glory be. The fact they omitted, rather than replaced the background music was more acceptable than the usual MTV solution to the video licensing problem. This way you hear the original track the animators worked from rather than music from the MTV pseudo-hip production music library.
2.) The "character profiles" were a disappointment. They should have grabbed the flip-books off of daria.mtv.com and adapted them for the DVD. Real production materials would have been "just dreamy" to quote Tom's mom.
3.) Main event...yes, it's cut to ribbons, yes they used the wrong tape, (post-premiere version with plenty of room for the patented MTV 10-minute commercial break) At least they didn't over-compress the video. They also should have taken the tack taken when they prepared "Lucky Strike" and "Boxing Daria" for video and just omitted background music that was not created for the show by Splendora.
All in all, it ranks a C for effort. I am not upset that I bought it, it's just that it could have been so much better.
