It was so nice of my boss to give me a 1/2 day off for Daria Day, don't you think? I'm about 1/3 thru my tape of D-Day, and I'd like to throw my opinion of the new episode (Daria! The Musical, for those of you who haven't been paying attention) on the pile.
The first thing everyone needs to realize going in is that this ain't gonna be "Write Where It Hurts, Part Deux." It's a musical, folks. There might not even - be- any spoken dialogue. There will be no character development, and nothing that happens in this ep will matter by next week. It's a parody of the musical form, plain and simple. If you look at it that way, instead of expecting big steaming piles of teen angst and a heavy plot, you'll enjoy it.
With that said, did anyone else catch the alter-ego previews in the commercial bumpers? I saw Brittany as Flipper, The Jakeinator, Jane as Uma Thurman in "The Avengers," (rowwr! Feisty!) Grandma Trent(?) and Tiffany as E.T., among others. Fun!
