I started pondering what makes people gravitate towards their 'ship of choice, and I came to the conclusion that it's probably based on what they'd like in a relationship. Examples:
The Original; Daria/Trent- These people are most likely still in high school wishing their crush would work out. Or they are adults who wish they could go back to the simpler times of dating, where you'd pick someone you liked and pursued them, without having to worry as much about the bigger things like sex, social status, job security etc. Or just people who wonder what life would be like had their high school crush worked out.
Daria/Tom- People who are tired of all the work that goes into dating, people who wish they could have a simple relationship; someone just to read with, or watch TV, or walk in the park, and "going out" means grabbing a slice.
Barch/O'Neill- The women who want to dominate, the men who want to be dominated; People who want a "healthy" sex life. 'Nuff said.
Ummm, lessee here...if these 'shippers exist...
Jodie/Mack- people who want stability, mutual respect, and pure unadulterated love
Brittany/ Kevin- people who want a "safety" relationship and/or people who just want to have fun
