Daria and Trent DO have a relationship!

I was just thinking after watching so many of the Daria/Trent stories that these two are having a realtionship. They talk with one another in ways they don't talk with anyone else, and their behavior is clearly different from how they respond to others. The thing is I don't see it becoming sexual. Why?

A) Daria still doesn't think much of herself as a person,which is something I don't think they're going to do away with since it's a part of the character. And she's still uncomfortable around Trent to an extent. Put those two together I don't know if she'll make a leap of faith which is what she'll have to do for a romance.

B) Trent's freaking out over going to a bookstore might kill any longterm romances since Daria is a chronic bookworm. And I don't see him as an intellectual. He's smart and aware (more than jane gives him credit), but I don't know if he's up to Daria's level. Any romance, unless they could get over those differences, might be rocky.

C) This storyline is a running gag of this series. I just don't see them ending it anytime soon. It's too funny seeing self assured Daria go to pieces around Trent.

Of COURSE I could be wrong tho. But I'm hoping I'm not.

Hi agree, I think that Daria and Trent both like each other, but don't want to admit it. Daria has a different personality when she's around Trent. They were tru;y made for each other!

Daria is definately uncomfortable around Trent- he's the only person(including Jane) that Daria hasn't ridculed right their face. Maybe she doesn't want to upset him(or is afraid to upset him).

Daria doesn't seem to be the type to hold her intelligence over someone in that kind of relationship(she does it to Quinn, but they're siblings-not really the same). She might get annoyed at something like this but I think she could look past it in this case:)

Those are all good point and if they are your opinions they can't really be wrong, can they?

I pondered over this for a while, and at first I agreed. But then I thought about this: If Daria was looking for some super genius, wouldn't she have stuck with that Ted guy, or at least some one more like him? Besides, you don't have to be book smart to be philosophocal or intellectual.

I'm sorry, but i have to disagree. I know that Darai wants Trent, I mean, don't insult my intelligence, but I don't think Trent has ever even seen Daria as a possible... uhhhhh... Date. I think he views her as a friend, even another little sister. I mean, he introduced her as "my kid sister's friend". And then he said "she's the coolest highschooler i know." He admires and respects her, but I think he only likes her as a friend. And even if they hooked up, it wouldn't work. They're like oil and water. ~Your main man, CrtoonDude. (AKA, Sgt. Poski`)~
