Who are Lawndale's firefighters ?

Since D-tag will most likely be based on my arson-plot, I have an interesting question for you. I think Lawndale is too small for a full-time fire department. I think they will have volunteer firefighters with beepers. My question is now, who are they? Do you think anyone we know is on the team? MSB

That depends... is the principal the chief? If so, then being a _volunteer_ firefighter would be... mandatory for evryone.

If not, then how about: Mr O'neil... he's pretty civic-minded and a joiner and Helen... Hey, she can do any job as well as a man!

Hehe.. treant firemen. Trent'd sleep through calls, though... even if he had every beeper and radio in the county going off at full volume, I think he'd still miss everything. (And so would everyone else, since they didn't have any beepers or radios.) ;-)

No doubt, she could do it, but she seems to avoid community service even moreso than Daria.

Nope, I haven't seen too many firefighter types on Daria. Maybe Tom.

And anyway, if we're placing Daria in the MD/VA area, a lot of those departments are combination career/volunteer, and the the volunteers are very frequently college students. So, if we're calling Tom a college student...

This is true but it is also surprisingly easy to get around her unwillingness... remember the nut house/hut, whatever, episode? Again I was just thinking of the humorous possibilities... and of course, if Helen does it then you know Jake will HAVE to too.

I realize that Firefighting is a serious job with serious risks and in no way mean to make fun of or imply otherwise... The humor would be in the Lawendale citizens trying to do such a responsible, serious job. (Anyone remember Pleasantville?)

I have no problem with that except that we don't _really_ know if he is going to be a permanent addition to the cast yet or if he actually lives in Lawndale or just near it. And we also don't know that he's a college student... that just seems like a good bet based on what we have seen.
