Does anybody seem to notice that in a lot of episodes Britany's upper lip is sometimes white, as if they forgot to paint it, whereas othertimes it is pink, like her bottom lip is all the time?

Daria had a pretty low budget. It's my guess that they couldn't employ enough people to check every frame for that sort of error, so often the cartoons went out with parts of cells left unpainted or painted wrong. Jane's leggings also disappear from time to time, and background characters sometimes do impossible things like shift around in the scene, or change color.

Yeah, but it happens too frequently for it to be a simple mistake.
Perhaps, it's an outdated character model that the animators inadvertently used from time to time.

I just think her upper lip is a little thinner, so the animators don't concentrate on it as much. Less space to work with has to be a factor.
