Yes, that was great. With Tiffany as the (nominal) president of the FC, Stacy started taking over - who else would have taken the bold move of inviting a few boys into the club? (Even though it didn't work out).

And telling off Tiffany - even mocking her to her face - what a scene!

More than that, I think. Stacy didn't just side with Quinn to side with Quinn. She actually thought Quinn was right and spoke up for that reason. I always knew she had it in her!

And what about Sandi now? As a long-time confirmed Sandi-basher, I was surprised to feel myself start seeing Sandi as a sympathetic character in this episode. I thought she'd be scowling in the last scene, but no. Did this crisis actually turn her into a nice person?

It looked, to my surprise, that when the chips are down, Quinn really is Sandi's friend. Probably it surprised Sandi, too.

I think the crisis broke through the bitchy facade Sandi presents to the world, and showed an insecure young woman who desperately needs to be seen as beautiful and needs to be in control, and it may also have developed some positive traits in her. We'll have to wait and see. However, her not scowling in the last scene suggests to me that she realizes she's losing control and is saddened by it at the very least.

I was surprised that when the chips are down, Quinn really IS (or at least, can be) Sandi's friend, so I'm not surprised it surprised Sandi, too. Of course, Quinn was steered into helping Sandi by a certain sarcastic sister ... :)

Let's hope this carries over to future episodes. As has been pointed out in another thread, DeMartino seems to have no lasting effects from his OK-to-Cry-Corral experience (I hope "seems" is the operative word).

Amazing how little effect the FLM crisis seemed to have on Tiffany. I thought she would just collapse with her social structure in shambles. Or, that is was (just barely) possible she might rise to the occasion of being president. She just went on as always, perhaps even more so.

As for Daria: except for that little bit of manipulation, she was a complete spectator in this episode. Has there ever been an episode in which Daria played so peripheral a role?

We'll have to see if there's any lasting effect on Sandi. There wasn't after "The Daria Hunter". But if she has even a little bit of decency, she has to be moved by the way Quinn stuck by her and helped her out.

IMO, the worst episodes of Daria ever were Fair Enough and The Daria Hunter. The fatal mistake in both those episodes (and, to a somewhat lesser extent, Just Add Water and Antisocial Climbers) was that they removed Daria completely from the main action and shunted her off into a minor and irrelevant subplot of her own.

In the last year or so, the writers have done a much better job of remembering who the show's named after. In Fat Like Me Daria acted as a supporting player, but when she did appear she was directly involved in the main action and helped to move the plot along. I didn't like this ep as much as some here, but it's a far step up from Fair Enough. Maybe Daria didn't get a whole pile of screen time, but she did get to play an active role in the plot.

"Fair Enough" is one of the five episodes I've never seen. Some day, MTV willing.

I liked FTM quite a bit. I'll have to see how it stands up to repeat viewings.

I'm sure, though, that I'll never get tired of watching Stacy tell off Tiffany.

As a single scene, the only scene I can compare it with is the one in DDMD where Daria and Tom kiss.

When Stacy told Tiffany "there is no meeting", the hair on the back of my neck stood up, because I knew what was coming!

For me, the most memorable single scene in Daria so far was the end of Arts and Crass, where Ms. Lee calls Helen to punish Daria over defacing Jane's picture, and Helen FINALLY realizes what's going on and basically pins Ms. Lee's ass to the wall. That was the moment I really understood Helen and Daria's relationship for the first time.

Yep -- that's when I realized that Helen was a _lot_ like Daria, and, while she wanted Daria to compromise a _bit_, fully approved of Daria's overall integrity and moral standards :)

I recall that in "The New Kid", Ted (who was new and therefore really DIDN'T know Daria was Quinn's sister) commented to Daria that she reminded him of "that popular girl, Quinn". Daria didn't look too happy about that.

Quinn wasn't very successful in passing off Daria as her cousin. It seems everyone else on this ng thinks she fooled no-one, although my belief is that Sandi caught on rather late.

Well, I don't think anybody was fooled for four or five whole seasons, that's for certain. Sandi might've caught on very late, or else denied the evidence until she could no longer deny it.

I plan on making those MasterCard commercials a regular thing in my fanfics. In fact, my second one ("I May Go Pop") went up on Outpost Daria just this past weekend.

I hope you write some more fanfics. And I promise to write a serious one (or two) like yours once I get the light-hearted ones out of the way. In fact, I have one in mind that (in an indirect way) sort of picks up where yours left off.

In fact, I hope a lot of folks here are planning on writing fanfics. It won't be long before fanfics will be the ONLY new episodes we get. :-(

I NEVER thought ANYONE outside the FC was fooled. I was surprised that, in "Lucky Strike",one of the 3 J's (I forget which) addressed Daria as "Ms. Darlene" since all three know perfectly well who she is - in "Quinn the Brain" they all showed up at the Morgendorffer house asking to see "your OTHER daughter, Daria".

Yes, I have another fanfic planned. This one's going to be a crossover, however. I've taken a real interest in the reality-TV/game show "The Mole", and the next fic is going to be a crossover with "The Mole" -- only with 10 teenage contestants from different schools -- and two of them are Daria and Tom! Won't tell you who the Mole will be, but I will tell you that it isn't Daria -- she's going to be the winner.

Glad to hear you liked it! The only thing I changed from your original was the scene which was "priceless" -- I loved seeing the look on Quinn's face so much I just HAD to insert that in place of the "Dye! Dye! My Darling" scene -- even if the other scene's a good one, too.

Well, I think they were being polite. After all, Daria had introduced herself as "Ms. Darlene" when she said she was going to be the new substitute teacher. And that reminds me -- I have to see "Quinn the Brain" when the show comes out on syndication.

Definitely you want to see "Quinn the Brain". In a recent poll on this ng, a lot of people, myself included, rated it the best-ever Daria/Quinn episode. Though I'll bet some of them (I did) pushed it down to second place after Monday night.

As for the 3 J's calling Daria "Ms. Darlene", I wonder if some of Daria's classmates clued in Quinn's class about Mrs Stoller calling Daria "Darlene" and they all played along, especially since Daria herself was treating it as a joke.
