New episodes!

...of Daria, but in Finland, that is! Based on covert research I've conducted, there are several Finns lurking around here, so I decided to post this info I just received from Petri Kemppinen, the YLE supervisor of program import for the young:

YLE TV 1 premiere of Season Five will start 26.9.2001 at 16.10 (4:10pm) afternoon spot. There will be a Season Four rerun after Season Five finishes.

"Is It Fall Yet?" will be aired 28.9.2001 at 15.45 (3:45pm).

Unfortunately, for some reason "Behind the Scenes with Daria" wasn't available for YLE to purchase, but that's just a minor set-back compared to Season Five and IIFY. Wow! I'll start this high school year with a smile unusually wide for me.

At least you guys *get* to watch 'Daria', though the eps you're going to see have been shown here in the States. Here, it looks as if MTV's not going to show any other 'Daria' at all until "Is It College Yet?", which is supposed to be shown sometime in December 2001/January 2002. It's really a shame they're doing this. It's almost clear to me that MTV doesn't seem to care about 'Daria' going off, at all. I still hold out the faint hope that MTV will show a final, "Ultimate" marathon that will consist of *all* of the shows of 'Daria', sort of a "farewell" tour.

I'll tell you this: If they have the nerve to show this type of marathon, I'll record every single one of the eps on SP speed (so I wouldn't have to buy any VHS tapes that MTV *might* sell of the show in the future, other than DVD, if they even do that), and then say goodbye to MTV for good, (since they don't have anything else worth watching, save "Sunday Night Heat") particularly if they don't have Eichler's upcoming animation project--hope it's a 'Daria' spinoff. Wouldn't that be cool? Thanks.
