Just wondered if anyone saw the Daria piece in the June issue of British mag, J-17? It had interviews with Jane, Trent and Daria as well as some info from Glenn Eichler. I actually set the piece up (and what a stress-inducing bunfight that was thanks to MTV UK's out-of-house PR company!) and would like to know what other Darians thought of it. Is that really arrogant of me? I hope not.

Yes, it was a nightmare - we were waiting on the copy literally as the mag was going down to repro but I think it's the first interview with either Jane or Trent (this was the second time we'd interviewed Daria), like, ever and I'm surprised that Glenn E answered some of the questions 'cause they reveal a lot more about the characters than we necessarily got to see. I have to stress that the problems we had weren't with the Daria office but the hideous chain of whispers that got involved.

Daria in J-17? Now, living in Australia has its disadvantages. One, my favourite magazine ever, J-17, of course, is always two months behind here. Two, my other favourite English mags are also behind. And three, I miss Top of the Pops, no matter how chessy some bands are performing on it.
Daria is my favourite tv show, of course (alongside Two Guys a Girl and a Pizza Place which is by far, the funniest sitcom ever) and with my fav mag (actually J-17 did an interview with Daria in 1997 before) was going to interview my fav show again. Oh, by the way, the mtv new season 3 block stuff? I don't have cable but my friends have and yeah, guess they aired it alright and note, I reckon it had something to do with the MTV US pushed back from May to June for the next episodes. Thinking Australia got the OK for playing it (I think they got the tapes somehow), they did. And now, finding out that the OK was a NOT OK, well, now its re-runs until US has finished with the whole season 3. Oh well. Don't worry, haven't watched the episodes either.
Oh, if I did got the mag I wish I could scan it for other Darians to see but unfortunately, my silly scanner is not with me in Australia! (I'm not Australian).

I looked for J-17 today in Woolworths, Smiths, and 3 other newsagents. Everyone had "19" but no-one had "J-17". I asked a couple of them if they stocked it but was told it was sold out and was offered "19" instead.

I have all of Series One here on tape (and Series Two, for that matter)...I could send you a single EP tape with everything but the thing is that you're in PAL territory and the cross-standard PAL/NTSC video decks that I know exist only run NTSC tapes at SP speed.
It would have to be on several tapes for this to work, and that can get costly with overseas mail. So we'll have to figure out how much it will cost to send it to you then I'll go dub it and send it. I would take International Reply Coupons for the postage costs.

I don't think it gets much coverage in other magazines, J-17 just seemed to like it. :)
I hope it was black! Or were you on a date with your favourite American? If so you need to make sure you wear that slaggy detachable lipstick that leaves red lip imprints on everyone you kiss. I used to know a girl who wore that stuff, she put some on once and went round the office kissing blokes on the cheek just as they were leaving. A couple of them went home oblivious to the fact that they'd been branded -- I guess they may have had some explaining to do to their wives or girlfriends!

We're both "taken", he likes me more than i like him (or at least (he said) he did last week anyhow lol...), and he likes another person more than he likes me (and it's not his girlfriend lol), so no dating. I was round his house though, doing science revision. Incidentally he's bleached his hair (again.. <rolls eyes>) and it's orange and yellow, cheese biscuit colour (don't ask, hehe) lol.. And his roots are showing through already, about 5 days after he dyed it, hehehe. Orange, yellow and black hair...

I enjoyed it. I presume the Channel Five screenings hadn't been announced when you went to press, since you only mentioned that, "The third series starts in May, 10.30pm every Tuesday on MTV."
It was good to see the URL for rich's site there! I found the copy amusing and informative, and the pages well designed and laid out.
There's also an _hommage_ to Lawndale High School, albeit not explicit, on p126. How many other Darianites spotted the similarities [1] between the celebrity questionnaire (I assume that "Rick Witter from Shed Seven" is a celeb among J17 readers?) and Mrs Manson's questionnaire from The Daria Diaries?
Congratulations to Sarra for getting this piece off the ground. More power to Daria fans in the media!

What can I say? I've been rumbled. The Headshrinker questionnaire was definitely 'inspired' by the Daria Diaries (bought on a trip to NY). But talent borrows, genius steals, depending on your politics. The Channel 5 screenings hadn't started when the piece went to press and I actually thought they were just showing re-runs so when the words Through A Lens Darkly appeared on the screen on that fateful Saturday afternoon, I squealed loud and long.
