Hey everyone,

I just got my mail and looked at my issue of "YM" (which I read for, well, kicks and to laugh at the pics of the girls screaming for the newest teen scream) and on page 96 there is a Daria Back To School Survival Guide. It has the following "Articles" in it-

"Dress To Impress" by Daria "You Can Make The Cheerleading Squad" by Brittany "Sleep Habits For School" by Jane "Ways To Look Asleep In Class When You're Really Awake" by Kevin "How To Get A Guy To Notice You And Ignore Everyone Else" by Quinn "No-Fail Excuses for Avoiding Extracurricular Activities" by Daria

Just thought you'd like to know that

Elizabeth

Hey, that's OK, I'll confess to actually spending my hard-earned money on the latest issue of "Teen People".

Granted, it *did* have an interesting little feature on the style of San Antonian teens that was unexpected.

And it *did* have Ricky Martin in the cover (no, I don't really feel anything for him, he just reminds me of a little boy whose facial cheeks need some serious pinching..."come here mijo, Mama's got some nice chocolate and pan dulce for you".

And....

Diane

About the "Daria" feature...interesting. Remind me next time I go to the store to pick up an issue surreptiously (hey, I'll buy "Teen People" openly, not "YM") and sneak a glance at the "back to school survival guide". :)

I believe that about as much as I believe the male equivalant: "I read it for the articles." ;)

Actually, to tell you the truth, I have experienced it. My brother "reads it for the articles," as do my male classmates.

As do I. Playboy's articles are, if nothing else, very interesting reading, and their interviews can be downright fascinating at times.

And yeah, I'd be lying if I said I didn't look at the pictorials. :-) But, to be honest, it's gotten rather uninteresting. Static pictures of an airbrushed naked woman just can't live up to the real thing.

Yeah, let's airbrush our van! It'll hide the large patches of rust on it. I'm thinking something classy, like palm trees and skulls. ;-)

It sounds like it, but it isn't.

I was thinking more along the lines of roses and steel and metal chains. You know, contrast the beauty of the roses with the cold hard reality of the steel and metal chains. Or skulls with daggers stuck through the middle of them would be a good contrast.

Rats! LOL

That reminds me, it used to be popular in some circles for people to have their clothes airbrushed on. I recall a motorbike helmet advert where people had admired the remarkably skin-tight leathers this girl was wearing, until someone said "hang on, how come her leathers have nipples?" It turned out that all she was wearing was a layer of paint, even the zips etc had been painstakingly painted on (which must have tickled).

True there are good articles in it at times. Playboy isn't just a porno mag, it's a "Men's" magazine. But you know they are _also_ looking at the pictures. Otherwise, they'd be reading Time. Or, no, wait, Time sucks these days. Something like New Republic, or US News and World Report, or Smithsonian...

Thank you, fellow Elizabeth, for the info. I seldom read YM (because most of it is junk) but I'll certainly get that one.
