UK - Series 2 Starts on the 8th

Just checked the Radio Times website and it's listing #201 Arts 'n' Crass On C5 , 16:00 on the 8th.

As I missed all of series 2 on it's first showing in 1998, I now don't mind too much that they�re not showing S4 until the Autumn.

This weeks showing of Too Cute completes my collection of S1 and 3 videos. (I only started taping them to keep since #310 in early Sept). I thought I would never get another chance to record the missing S1 episodes so I bought both videos and was surprised that they repeated most of the early episodes this year. Still, at least I have the uncut versions of the first 7 eps plus the pilot.

Re your other reply, I'm going to record S2 and 4 on S-VHS, so if you want any copies, then the quality should be pretty good.

Is the second tape available in PAL format, cant seem to find refferance to it anywhere (in PAL format that is :) )?

Yeah not the butchered C5 version of "College Bored", butchered so bad in places that it stops making sense....IMHO of course.

I asked a couple of video suppliers & they both said that the second vid was not available here, so I ordered it from Amazon.com, cost $11.99 (+ $12.95 p&p!). That was in late Dec and with the exchange rate then, it came to �16. Not too bad. Of course it's NTSC, but that's not a problem for 90% of video recorders sold here over the last couple of years. Most modern TV's will also play back the NTSC ouput from the vid.

My old TV wouldn't play back the signal though! A friend of mine who is into home cinema loaned me a NTSC to PAL standards converter and a proper NTSC video recorder and I made a PAL copy.

After putting up with that for a few weeks, I thought what the hell, and bought the new TV and S-VHS vid. That plays it fine. S2 & 4 had better be good after all this!

I've watched the online real media episodes to spot what we are missing. I have often thought it would be a good idea to include these cuts on a web page for UK viewers. Maybe one day..

Ah that's what I though I might go ahead and order it from there if there are no plans to issue it in PAL format. Have to wait till I've got over the expense of moving tho.

Heheheh that's where it gets strange for me, my mother's TV which is only a couple of years old will not accept the signal at all, but my B&W portable, that's at least 13 years old (I bought it second hand to run my Sinclair Spectrum on :) ), plaqys the one american tape just fine. a mate and I suspect that it's because the portable was made to be able to work in several countries, and so can handle the signal.

Aha yeah I'd possible buy a standards converter but they are reletivly expensive...and I do't know that they'd handle the PAL-NTSC bastardization that my video spits out, I know cirtainly my TV capture card won't :)

S2 is good IMHO better than S1, and about the same as S3, from what I've seen of S4 so far (just d/l ing "The F Word"), that's pretty cool.

Yes at some point I want to go through CB and calculate how much C5 cut out, it really pisses me off that they have done this instead of showing the show at a time more apropreate to it's content as C4 did with "Beavis & Butthead".

I have tried not to watch the realmedia S2 eps as Martin told me ages ago that C5 were to show the series again. I've pretty much succeeded, except the temptation got too much on a couple of occasions & I've seen #201, 02, 03 and 11, all v. good.

The standards converter won't handle the version of NTSC output from our PAL vids. I was lucky that a friend of mine picked up a cheap multi standard vid which outputs true NTSC that the converter accepts.

I only noticed that Daria's daydream about her and her college tutor scene was cut. I didn't record it ( already having the tape ) so can't recheck. I wish C5 would show the series uncut in the early hours of the morning to fill in some vacant slot. The cut version could still be shown as part of the kids TV. Fat chance though.

Damit, oh well. I suppose colour conversion is easy to do which is why videos do it, but fram rate conversion I would imaging is a real pain to achive.
