OTP: Danger Mouse

Hello--

     Well, this is interesting. We were talking about "Danger Mouse" last
month, well, I found a "Danger Mouse" video. Four episodes: "Die Laughing",
"The Day Of The Suds", "150 Million Years Lost" and "Rogue Robots", with
inter-episode patter by David Jason as the narrator. The date is 1984, so it's
most assuredly out of print. The one thing I found most odd about this tape:
the Baron's main henchman Stiletto, who I remembered as having a heavy Cockney
accent, here is dubbed with an awful, unconvincing Italian accent. It's most
incongruous.
     In any case, a cool find. I've no idea if there are any more tapes
available.

Now THAT's news to me! Before the Transformers hit the small screen in 1985, Danger Mouse was my favorite show. A far as I could remember, my favorite episode was "The Wild Goose Chase"

Stilletto's original accent was Italian. Presumably, after DM began to be shown in the US, Stiletto's accent was changed to avoid upsetting people of Italian descent. Personally, I hated the Cockney accent, as I started watching with the Italian Stiletto. And both accents were awful and unconvincing.

I don't remember the episode, but my favorite bit from Danger Mouse was when Penfold was hypnotized and told by Baron Greenback to take DM on the Sabotaged ride, "The Big Dipper" and said: P: I wanna take-a duh ride onna duh Big Dippa!

DM: All right then, Penfold.

P: I will notta tell Danger Mouse that it is-a duh Trap!

DM: Well, *don't* then!

That always cracked me up. Or when they go into an Egyptian pyramid and DM tells Penfold that the statue is Anubis, and Penfold says, "But chief, he's got clothes on!" DM: "Not a *nudist*, Penfold, *Anubis*."
