Patience, patience! When there's high traffic on this group, it's easy to forget to respond to a post, and after a day or two, it becomes impossible to find the original post. And the traffic has been a wee bit high of late.
Of course, this will get much worse as everyone weighs in with their opinions on the new eps as soon as they start airing, and various "discussions" start amongst participants (please, folks, keep it civil!) ... Just be patient, and start a descriptive new thread if you feel like you must have a respone right away. <g>
Check 1, 2... Check 1, 2... Check 1, 2, 3... Check Check Check... (doesn't that drive you nuts too?)
Take a few deep, cleansing breaths, and think about cute little fuzzy bunnies, or, if you're not into yoga and perkiness, you can hyperventilate a little and think about the hollow lives the little bunnies lead while desperately trying to outcute each other by spending a fortune on fur-fluffing agents and other bunny cosmetics... <g>
There's a thought-- what sort of plastic surgery would a fluffy bunny elect to get?

It has, hasn't it? This morning, there'd been 30 posts since last night. Alt.music.manics had had 31 in the same period of time, and that's a big newsgroup with lots of very strange people all competing to be the number 1 poster (Every week someone posts this "top 10 posters" list prompting everyone to fill the newsgroup with mindless crap in a semi-sarcastic effort to be number 1.......nevermind.....).

In addition to a large number of posts (to which I confess I probably contributed about 1/5 of those 30), it seems to be a season of header standard production. HOLY COW...girl, wow, amazing! I think that whole thing about "Top 10 Posters" is definitely not a good idea...oh wow, well, I'm sorry, I didn't know.
I know that with me, sometimes things can get to be a bit overwhelming too. I belong to several mailing lists, you see, and sometimes one of them will have 30-40 new messages in one day, plus there will be several others with 10 per day and several more with 5 per day. And I have to keep up with several e-mail addresses, and try to keep up with not only this newsgroup but 3-4 others. So I can certainly identify with what you must be feeling.
It can tend to be unbearable in some situations, right?
"Top 10 Posters" lists should be shot down, dontcha think?

*sigh*...(hits head with hand)...I should've known! Wait...isn't there a song named "I Should've Known"? I think there is...really cool one, in fact...wait, I'm rambling aren't I?
Besides, Dejanews has this pesky little problem with keeping up all posts. If you've ever used it you know how frustrating it can be, and sometimes you can't even read a post.
You can't read an already-read newsgroup, either. *sigh*
Holy cow, imagine the rush at that time...(imagines the running of the bulls in Pamplona)...eeek, um, here, grab onto me, we're heading for higher ground! (hee hee hee hee)
Speaking of new episodes...did anyone notice how there's going to be a "Daria" marathon leading up to the premiere episode of this coming season? Yeppers...from 5:30 to 9 p.m., pure "Daria"!!! (times in Central time...you figure it out) Whoo hoo! (throwing streamers)
I shouldn't really speak, y'know, about immediate responses...I've myself not responded for a bit on some things I wished to respond to. I so sorry. Especially with you. I so very sorry.
LOL...you funny...I like. :) Oh god, thank you so much for your response...it's really made me feel much better. Actually, you and Alli have both made me feel much better with your responses.
I guess that since school's kept me really, incredibly stressed, and work's not been too kind either, I kinda felt like a time bomb waiting to explode, and I let out some steam out at you guys. I'm sorry for doing that.
So thanks, you two...you've made me laugh and feel really good.

Yes, Dejanews can be irritating. Very irritating. So irritating that I bugged my ISP into adding a.t.d. to its news server, and they did so within a week or so, so now I only go to DJN once a month to check email. (And I don't even remember why anymore.)
BTW, I keep a pretty-much up-to-date airing schedule on my website. I know, I know, it's a gratuitous plug, but it's useful, doesn't violate any laws, (at least to my knowledge and belief) <g>, and isn't fattening or habit-forming. Just good old fashioned information for you, the fans. <g> It even loads quickly.
S'ok. It happens here sometimes, and usually after the dust settles, everyone forgets. I remember working during college while doing summer sessions--- it was awful, and I always felt like my head was about to explode. 39.75 hours a week at $3.35/hr in the yucky part of the library doing boring work. Only plus sides: A/C and minimized human interaction with coworkers (who depressed the hell out of me.) %-)
Well, that makes one. <g> rich.

Oh, no, I've enough. Well, go on then. A Talisker. Thanks. Cheers!

Since I'm underage, why don't you buy me some sort of Cheap Generic Beer (TM) and hold it over my mouth, pouring gently, so nobody gets arrested? I hate being a minor. I think one of the most degrading things someone can say to you is, "Can I talk to your parents?" when the subject obviously pertains to YOU, not them. Grrrr.... sorry, I'm extremely fed up with my school system right now, because everything takes at least a day to get done because you're forever having to take things home for your parents to sign...
Well, if we're in a pub here in the UK, it's supply that's illegal rather than purchase or sale, and I guess pouring it in might count as supply?
But as long as the pub has a restaurant or "area set aside for the service of meals," then you have no problem! "The legality of the supply of intoxicating liquor to someone under the age of 18 depends upon where it takes place. Supply of alcohol to somebody under the age of 18 in a bar is always unlawful. The supply in some other parts of the premises eg. a restaurant is not unlawful provided that the child is over the age of 5." [1]
(In England and Wales, a bar is a room within a pub, not a synonym for a pub. A pub might have one or more bars, other rooms for drinking, a restaurant, a beer garden, and a family room or children's room.)
I think it may have to accompany a meal, and someone aged 18 or over may have to buy it for you. Aged 16+ if it's beer: "Over 16s may buy beer, cider, perry or porter only, but NOT wine and only to drink with a meal. Both drink and meal must be served and consumed in an area set aside for the service of meals: this area must not be a bar." [2].
This is not a full statement of the law, I take no responsibility, etc., etc.
To get to the point: your solution is clear. Relocate to the UK, and have your beer with a meal. I like these practical and achievable solutions, don't you? <g>

LoL... too bad they're civil to each other <g>
Oh, God, I could have fun with that... <bigEG> "I give permission for my aughter to participate in sacrifice of one (1) English teacher. Signed, Stacy Preston." I wish...
In most Mediterranean countries you can buy alcohol at any age. The UK sucks; you have to wait until you're 18, or at least look it. And I'll be about 22 before I look 18.
<bigeffin'g> Why do I get the feeling I'm going to have to take out a mid-sized loan? Are we going to have a designated driver or are we all going to crawl back to Martin's place?
Jon Armstrong The Space Ranger Graveyard gives one a unique outlook on life. A dark one.
Well, it'd be long crawl from the Trip to Jerusalem, so we might have to change the URL to atp://atp.yarborough.grimsby.uk...
But the Trip is well worth a visit for its history as well as its beer; not many pubs were established in 1189 or earlier. I could invoke an emergency plan and open up a church hall for us all to crawl back to and crash in. Hmm <ponders...ding!> "Exercise Lawndale Brownwater." (Of course I don't have the authority to invoke an emergency plan, but trivial details like that shouldn't deter one).
There must be a teetotal Daria fan with a driving licence who could drive the car (Car? Minibus.).
You do realise that there is a tiny chance that all this might actually develop into the first international Daria convention? We'd better stop now, before it's too late. <g>
Stop hell! I think you've come up with a great idea, an IDC. I propose that it be held on the date of the airing of the last Daria episode in England. That gives us plenty of time to make the arrangements. Would have to be held in England, dark and gloomy and all that. I'm up for this. Anybody else?
Jon Armstrong The Space Ranger Graveyard gives one a unique outlook on life. A dark one.
Do you mean the last of s3 or <gulp> the last ever ep of Daria?
Plenty. C5 have announced an *intention* to acquire series three, and I've invited them to email me when they're ready to announce that they *have* acquired it: nothing yet. Getting out of them the date of the last ep's screening might require techniques long ago outlawed in Christendom.
If it pans out that s3 ends in the winter, well, the country's not at its best then (but I see what you imply about it reflecting our mood at the end of a series).
How about picking a date in what we like to call summertime, and then inviting MTV to permit the screening of eps at the convention, including whatever series the UK Darianites are then awaiting? I'm sure the US fans wouldn't mind seeing them again; or they could do tourist stuff while the UK mob viewed eps new to us.
What have I created? What have I done? Oh, the horror, the horror. <walks off mumbling>
The <gulp> one, last ever (it's gonna happen some day folks, but then again, maybe it'll have a twenty year run). This will also give those folks in .edu land time to save their pennies for the trip.
Walk tall with your head held up Martin, you've pushed the envelope! ;)
Jon Armstrong The Space Ranger Graveyard gives one a unique outlook on life. A dark one.
That's a brilliant idea! A "DariaCon" that's truly international! There could be screenings of all the episodes from the rare pilot to the end of the third season (I hope you mean "last episode in England" as in "last 3rd season episode in England" *crosses fingers that C5 picks up "Daria"'s 3rd season*). And there could be tables reserved for the "Daria" vendors (so one can buy books, videos, and the like), a "Daria Jeopardy", a dance featuring all the music from the show, "Daria" character lookalike contests, and loads more! Maybe someone could bring in one of the vocal talents for an autograph and Q&A session, as well.
This would be an excellent thing to go to. :)

Stop it! You guys are scaring me! <g> This feels almost like one of those creepy science fiction expos where everyone dresses like a Borg and babbles in Klingon. *shudder* I mean, it'd be nice to get together and have a few pints of warm English beer/ale/whatever and sing "Freak," or "Rock & Roll Lifestyle,", but I don't want to have to dress up as Jeffy in order to do it. <g> (Yes, I could only get away with dressing as an older, bitter, more intelligent version of Jeffy.)

I'm sorry, I wasn't even thinking about something like a Star Trek convention. In fact, I don't even watch "Star Trek". I kinda thought that it'd be cool to do a few organized activities (based on another fan convention I know about), and I was merely giving out suggestions. In my slightly hyperactive self, that is.
But if you'd rather go to a pub or something, I'd be happy with that arrangement (provided I can actually cough up the money to do so). I'll just sit down and figure out if there's any non-alcoholic drinks to drink (the only alcoholic drink I'd like to try out is a margarita).
Right now, though, my stomach is doing a number on anything I consume, so I wouldn't want to try out *anything*.

Yes, it is nice to feel that one isn't shouting into a vacuum, that one's thoughts are heard and understood by others. In short, that somebody gives a damn.
Some of us here do. We few, we unhappy few. We band of brothers. For anyone who posts on this day shall be my brother... er sibling.
Hey, you're in the right place, then. So what's *your* major malfunction?
"If you wanna be my lover..." -- ick, Spice Girls! "Girl power!" I think not.
Thank ye, thy understanding and compassionate self. Thine own words have thusly cured me of my foul and disagreeable air. It is but a perchancing miracle that thine own hand has touched this far.

You mean it? YAY! I've made it to the right place! My major malfunction...I guess it'd be occasionally being bitchy and all but mostly being...dare I say it...mostly normal. :)
Right now I'm starting to feel like I'm in my element, so my "mostly normal" side is reigning.
Well, off to go get some sleep now...

Don't you feel lucky?. There are billions of poor saps out there who will never know that this newsgroup is The Right Place that everyone's looking for. For some reason, I feel like breaking into the Cheers theme song right now, but I'm trying to cut back on pop culture references- damn! Too late.
Normal? Wait just a minute, I'm not sure we can let you in. Normal people have the whole rest of the world, I don't think they need this newsgroup too.
Oh, you were speaking of a relative norm, not an absolute. Well, good. It's nice to feel normal now and then. There's something to be said for being bitchy, though. Every now and then, you just have to take a big bite out of someone's overinflated ego.
"Sometimes you wanna go where everybody knows your name, and they're always glad you came! You wanna be where you can see the troubles are all the same, you wanna go where everybody knows your name."
*g*...I used to watch that show religiously when I was little. Mainly because of Carla (my favorite!), mostly because of Diane (my real name..."deena lissa" is my childhood nickname), probably also because of Sam and Norm (two funny guys).
I agree...see below.
Yep, I was speaking about feeling "normal" as in "my own personal normal". Aka what I'm feeling right at this very moment. I do sometimes enjoy my bitchy moments, though, mostly when it comes to trying to deal with snobs and such. And when it comes time to defend something I'm quite fond of (whether it be musically or on TV or in movies, etc.)
Unknown hidden talent # 1: I can flame someone...badly. But I don't think I'll show that here. From what I've seen thus far, no one's been nasty enough for me to even bother. In fact, no one's been nasty at all. So I think I'll just save the flames for some other ng.

I flame quite nastily too, on occasions. I don't recall ever having done it on this newsgroup, but I have on others. That side of my character is not something I like to display very often. :)
