No, there isn't going to be a live-action Daria movie. And even if they were, I wouldn't be in charge of the casting. But I would lilke to start a different kind of thread. Bear in mind that the actors won't have to exactly resemble their animated counterparts (of course, makeup and wardrobe will help), and they won't have to exactly sound like the voice-actors, but they should be recognizable, and able to capture the essence of the characters they portray.
So here's my start at casting the Daria movie.
Daria - Natalie Portman Jane - Christina Ricci Quinn - Mena Suvari Helen - the mother from "Malcolm in the Middle" or Valerie Bertinelli Jake - Dunno. It would have to be a guy with a high-pitched voice Trent - Freddy Prinz, Jr Tom - Open
Sandi and Stacy - Open Tiffany - Open, but has to be Asian.

Nor do we have any ideas for Tom, though since he's been around only since the end of Season 3 in the animated series, there might not be as strong a need to cast him just yet amongst Daria fans. If nobody can think of any good candidates for Tom's role, I'll have to do so.

Lucy's too old to play a high-school teen. How about Nicole Bilderback? ("Bring It On"s Whitney). She can play a nasty, clique-ey Asian girl great. Plus, she actually played a girl named Tiffany in the movie "A Fate Worse Than Death".

Has anyone seen P J Prinsloo who plays Chris in "Edgemont"? He'd make a great Mack. Definitely more footballish than basketballish. And though he plays a somewhat underhanded character (in Edgemont he's trying to seduce the school bitch to win a $50 bet) he usually acts so convincingly smooth and innocent he could easily play a straight-arrow guy like Mack.

What would be wrong with doing a movie length animation? It would probably be better, more can be done with, which is why Daria is animated in the first place...
I proposed this thread just for fun. I'm glad so many people are contributing to it. However, your idea is a good one. In fact, it would be cheaper and easier, since the "Voice actors" have already been cast.
Here's another idea: If there really is a Hollywood writers' strike, that lasts any significant length of time, then there will be no new movies for a while. So---are you reading this, Glenn Eichler?---how about releasing "Is It Fall Yet?" as a feature-length toon?
Everybody wins. The exhibitors (the guys who own the theaters) get to fill the theater seats during the strike. MTV gets to make some more money off of an already existing product, and the show "Daria" gets exposed to a larger audience.
Actually I'd like to see something more than just IIFY show in theatres. Cut together "Fire!" "Dye! Dye! My Darling" and "Is It Fall Yet?" as a single expanded movie. This would be a lot better than just releasing IIFY as it showed on MTV the first time. This way, the audience could see the story unfold from almost the beginning to the end.
