I dunno, I thought it was funny. "I'm obviously in the midst of a mental breakdown here, and I'm just gonna go for it, Zelda Fitzgerald style." Probably the best line of the 3rd season.

Plus, the Americans have a new use for their knowledge of the word "wanker"... wait, this is the sort of thing that causes my country confusion. I'm American but I knew the word before... and I'm an alien in my homeland like Stephen Dedalus (must... stop... obsessing... over... James Joyce)

What I liked: the Zelda Fitzgerald line, "even your imaginary friends are embarassing", some of the holiday-type personifications (Arbor Day, Halloween, Guy Fawkes Day, the saints days), Jane and Daria's apathy at getting rid of Christmas and Halloween (kids are too materialistic anyhow...)

What I didn't like: the whole plot with Quinn was stupid and made no sense.

Obviously no big character developments but, hey, as the title said, depth was taking a holiday.

Would you be complaining as much if it had been clearly labelled a "dream" or "fantasy" sequence? You should keep the mainline continuity of Daria the universe seperate from what you happen to see on Daria the TV show. Do you really think, for example, that Daria lives her life in 20-25 minute chunks broken up by bumpers and commercials?

Yes. I think Daria's a cartoon. She has no "life" other than that which the writers see fit to commit to video.

I think it's because my growing brain had been twisted on sugar-coated cereals and '70s SatAM TV. "DTAH" would have made a truly bitchen "Archies" episode. It makes a mediocre to crummy Daria episode, I don't mean that I truly LIKED "DTAH", but I laughed a couple of times. I didn't laugh *ONCE* with "Daria!"

Sam Johnson and Chris Marcil were to blame for this one. I think their minds have been poisoned from writing for network sitcoms.

'Bout the only thing that worked for me was Cupid's 'Love Taser'. But even that was ruined by the way Jake and Helen were shown to respond. I mean jeez, flashing skeletons? How Tom-n-Jerry.

Neither can I...I really liked "Daria!" I've replayed the episode on tape over 15 times now. But although I laughed a couple of times, I truly HATE "DTAH."

And I absolutely loved "Daria!" the musical. It had a few surprises too. I was really impressed with Wendy Hoopes' vocal ability!!!! All of her characters sang beautifully. Daria's singing, on the other hand, provided amusement in its stark contrast. It was just like a high-school musical, you've got the undiscovered talent, and talent that should be left undiscovered.

I liked the dayum thing. I think comparing this episode--however goofy--to TMNT or Garfield is rather harsh. We didn't have any talking barnyard animals or refugees from chop-socky flicks running through Lawndale High's hallowed halls. I thought it was an amusing diversion. Think of it as the French fries of the season--nice as a side order, but you don't want to make a whole meal out of them unless you have less than a buck to your name.

And I still say Daria's blurting out Trent's name proves she's *IN LOVE* with him--who would know love better than the personification of Valentine's Day? So NYAH. =P~

How about this comparison then: it played like a bad episode of "Sabrina the Teenaged Witch." (And don't reply, "Are there any * good * episodes?" I wouldn't know. I don't watch that show, it just seemed like the type of show that would have a plot like this.)

I don't watch the show either-- I'm usually out on Friday nights, anyway-- but there are some funny people working on it (TV's Frank is one of the writers, and I've always been a fan of Carolina Rhea, Martin Mull, and Nick Bakay-- all 3 are very funny people.) The few times I have tried to watch it, though, I've almost slipped into shock from a sugar overdose. :P Maybe it's the Disney contamination that does it. :-)

I didn't feel that bad about it...I'm just a bit concerned that the writers feel the need to start "exploring" so soon.I wouldn't expect anything like this until about season 5. And I really wasn't expecting fantasy episodes with this frequency. I've never really felt I could say an episode seemed "like a bad fanfic" until now. THIS, my friends, was like a bad fanfic. A *good* bad fanfic, maybe, but a bad fanfic nonetheless. Let me say that I don't mind when depth takes a holiday, but did it have to take reality along with it?
