So the Aussies did indeed get a premiere showing of the show before the US did.

I would suspect the reason for the Aussie thing is not that they were screening early, but MTV are showing them late - ISTR that MTV originally advertised them for May, not the end of June, so they probably sold the overseas rights on that basis. Once they've done that they probably can't retract them, as overseas broadcasters will have already done their schedules. (Unlike MTV, most broadcasters do in fact plan their schedules in advance!)

I believe that the C5 announcer said that it would be back the week after next, meaning 12th June, as the football is on this week.....
Though I suppose it could be re-runs but I would doubt that we shall see...

Just thought I'd add my knowledge to the party: When UK's Channel 5 started showing series three ahead of MTV UK, my friend at MTV asked their schedule department what was going on and the MTV UK reaction was, "It's called syndication." They didn't seem at all bothered. Maybe that's why Channel 5 and Australian TV are getting to show the second block of series three ahead of the US - because MTV are just a little apathetic. Though I have to say as a British Daria fan, it's cool to get first showing for once. It's torment to have to search the Daria sites for episode transcripts.
Also I was wondering if anyone saw the Daria piece in J-17 and what they thought of it. I have a vested interest. But that's a whole other

Okay, here's apparently what happened from what I've read and seen. Apparently, the new eps were originally scheduled to start airing in May. Then, sometime in April, someone in Programming had a vision/ epiphany/ seizure/ whatever and decided that the new eps had to air starting June 30. (I'd speculate that they moved it because many cable channels don't play along with May sweeps, and instead prefer to air new shows during summer in order to really boost the ratings-- Comedy Central, another Viacom holding, has done this for a few years now, as has MTV, and it does work to some degree.) So, anyway, the decision was made from On High-- push those airings back to the end of June. A Press Release was even issued-- but, sadly, the responsible folks at MTV:Oz either didn't get it, didn't read it, or didn't care about it. They weren't told *not* to air the eps, so, come late May, they went ahead and started airing them anyway. Meanwhile, the department at MTV that's responsible for running the syndication deal with entities like c5 went ahead and sent the tapes on schedule, mostly because they didn't get the memo/ press release/ whatever either. Now that c5 has the tapes, they can pretty much do whatever the hell they want to with them, and there isn't a thing MTV can do to stop them. The result of this screw-uo will probably mean now that in future, foreign broadcasters will now have to wait even longer until they get possession of new eps. (Although as I said before, it shouldn't be too long of an extra wait.) The sad part is that somebody STILL hasn't corrected the Daria schedule page on the official site at MTV. It *still* says that new episodes will air in May. This reinforces my theory that nobody there reads the memos. ;-)
As for searching for all things Daria, your best bet is Outpost Daria, now located at www.lawndale.net . It contains all of the old info from ALC and PD, as well as the info about the newer eps as well.

They connect too independent clauses at times when a period would seem weird and a comma would be too little. They're also sometimes used in lists like the bulletin at my first ex church would always have a listing like Rev. Dr. Robert Bedingfield, Senior Minister; Rev. Mr. Timothy Dieffenbach, Youth Minister because the comma is there already.

I got the info about what had happened re: the US schedules vs. the British and Australian ones from past messages, I just thought it might be enlightening to add what I knew from the UK angle.
I guess the one thing it shows is how slack MTV is. But that's big communications corporations for you! I have to deal with MTV UK as part of my job and it's no fun I can tell you.
