What Do You Like Besides Daria???

Here are some things I like besides Daria(not just TV shows, just anything in general):

bands/artists: Hanson(don't laugh),The Smashing Pumpkins, Everclear, Green Day, Sarah McLachlan, Fiona Apple, Jewel, Eve 6, Cake, Live, REM, Lauryn Hill, and Hole. TV: MTV(because of Daria and SOME music vids, although they hardly ever play them!), The Box(hey , they play more music than MTV so i'm not complaining!), Seinfeld, ER, some TV movies, I know there's more but I can't think of them..... Cartoons: DARIA(of course!!), Rugrats, Garfield&Friends, Aeon Flux(hehe i'm messed up!) Food: French fries, chocolate, pizza, chicken, potatoes, mushrooms, Italian, Chinese, & Japanese food Books: Anything by Madeleine(sp?) L'engle&Joan Lowery Nixon Things to do in Summer: THE BEACH, taking vacations, sleeping in, doing stuff w/ friends

Allright. At first it wasn't too bad. You're obviously a fan of the show, that's good, you're posting off-topic garbage, that's bad.

BUT WAIT.

I'm not saying that posting off-topic is bad. I'm saying that posting off-topic garbage (this is what I like, what's YOUR opinion?!?!??!?!?!??!?!) is bad. For one thing, the extra and unneccessary punctuation gets to me. If you want to express a strong opinion, be articulate, ramble (we don't mind here), but for the love of GOD, PLEASE, one or maybe two exclamation points is all you should need. Try being wordy. It's fun.

For another thing.. Maybe it's just me, but I don't like people who try to control the conversation. (Hey, isn't this a DARIA newsgroup? Can we talk about DARIA now?) I hate that. As well, I cannot STAND when people beg for replies. <ahem>

And I'm not the only one who ever posts off-topic, so you shouldn't be complaining. I have a feeling that you think all this just b/c I'm a teen. (Oh, god, I think we're about to weather our first flame war) I suddenly feel the need to jump in here. You say you don't have to type all perfect using big words or perfect spelling. No one said you had to, but this is a text-based medium, kiddo, and in such a medium your typing is the equivalent to your diction and accent. Five or six punctuation marks is going to give an impression of a complete and utter madman, and poor spelling is the same as mumbling and swallowing your words. Also, it's great to be excitable, but sometimes that means your fingers are gonna outpace your brain, and you'll end up typing something you regret. Feel free to post whenever you want, but you really don't need to post five or six times every hour or so. If you see something that you simply /have/ to reply to, go for it, but remember, you're speaking to dozens, if not hundreds of people when you do. Is this something we're /all/ going to want to hear? No? then maybe you shouldn't post. Um. Anyway, my point is that being told to jump off to the teeny-bopper list was a little out of line, but you have to understand that @aol.com hiding up in your email address is a social stigma here on usenet. We tend to be a little less tolerant of people from there. BUT, don't confirm our opinions by completely disregarding what gets said, even if it's said in a rude fashion. A little less exclamation points, a little more spellchecking, and maybe being a mite less pushy, and you could be the next Alli! Isn't that neat?

Just because we consider ourselves more "enlightened", for lack of a better term, is no reason to act superior. Intellectual discrimination- no, scratch that. "Discrimination" is a stupid media buzzword that's lost all it's meaning to PC connotation- Intellectual exclusionism is no better than exclusion for the sake of fashion, looks, or popularity.

Nah, never the "bad" guy. One "bad guy", maybe, in the sense that "bad" is good. The guy whose opinion is completely valid but I feel is wrong, maybe. But never a "bad" guy.

Currently I'm obsessing over the three greatest geniuses of all time, James Joyce (writer), Friedrich Nietzsche (philosopher, i.e. "That which does not kill us makes us stronger"- no, it's not from a song), and Vivian Stanshall (singer/performer/alcoholic/loony)...

I also like posting pointless messages on newsgroups and making dumb comparisons.

Here are some things I like besides Daria(not just TV shows, just anything in general): alcoholic beverages, art, playing guitar, stealing things, reading, building pointless websites

bands/artists: The Cure, Garbage, the Smiths, Morrissey, David Bowie, ELP, Yes, ELO, Black Sabbath, Guns and Roses, Fiona, Jewel, Rainbow, to name a few

TV: don't watch much ut i do like Frasier, Seinfeld, Daria, Beavis and Butthead, Doctor Who

Cartoons: see above and add "The Tick" and "The Maxx" to the list.

Food: pastries, veggies, fruits

Books: "A Clowckwork Orange", "The Bachman Books(early Stephen King novels written under the nom-de-plume of Richard Bachman)", "Forrest Gump" by Winston Groom, "Beneath the Wheel" and "Steppenwolf" by Hermann Hesse.

Things to do in Summer: stray away from beaches and parks, dress up like barney and scare small children
