Hey, at the end of the 112k/sec realvideo of Road Worrier, Daria has a halo! It just materialises for a moment over her head and then fades out again, it's in the first of the end credit pictures of her.

I think I'm going to have to start a new religion based on the Madonna Daria....

If Daria gets pregnant and it turns out she's still a virgin I think we'll know what her religion is, heh-heh ...

know

"Hail Daria, full of grace, the Lord is with thee, blessed are thou amongst cartoon women..."

Nope, can't picture it!

deena lissa but she can still be a hero, even if she doesn't have an Immaculate Conception

You remind me of an allegedly true story.

A priest loved his new wordprocessor, and made extensive use of global find & replace. He had wedding and funeral liturgies on disk; all he had to do was f&r the name of the deceased, or the names of the spouses, and [address], all ready for printing and putting out in church.

Until the wedding after Paul & Mary's. He did a quick f&r, putting Shane and Tracey's names in, printed, and put out.

All went well until the prayers of the faithful, when he heard this after the final petition:

Reader: Now let us ask for the prayers of the Mother of God.
All: Hail Tracey, full of grace....

Martin.

I'd probably have found it much funnier if it hadn't taken me 5 minutes to realise what it was on about, LOL... I should'a stayed in bed, I knew it... :)

I think that would make for a brilliant episode, Daria is (or thinks she is) pregnant despite being a virgin. It would be interesting to see how she, and those around her, reacted to the situation and came to terms with it. She would also make an ideal new virgin mary at the Dawn Of A New Millennium! Given her reputation, she would make quite a credible virgin mother I think.

OTOH she might suddenly find herself left out in the cold with no-one believing her protestations of innocence despite her previously good character. I recall that happening in another show, this bright girl gets framed by some other girls, so she gets falsely accused of some crime, and despite her previously impeccable school record, neither her parents nor teachers believe her protestations of innocence and she's left wondering what the point was of having been a goody-goody all this time. In despair she runs away from home. I can well imagine Daria in such a situation, with Miss Li heading up the witch hunt for "bringing the school into disrepute" by getting pregnant.

Maybe I should start writing fanfics....

That's "virgin Daria." Hmm, "Daria," "Maria." Only one letter difference. Coincidence? I think not. And she does disdain the sinful and banal mundane world, hating the sin but not the sinner...

Daria is Love!

I don't know about you, but if a 16 year old girl (or female of any age for that matter), was pregnant and claimed she was still a virgin, 'immaculate conception' isn't the first phrase that would pop into my head.

Sounds good. Get started.

17, actually. The characters are a year older this season. (Per Susie Lewis, two years of "real time" equals one year of "Lawndale time".) Jane, of course, is the exception; she turned 17 at the end of last season, so she'll be 18 at the end of season four.

LOL, I just got up about 3 minutes ago...I had to read that sentence through several times before I "got it".... <g>

"Full of grace." I always wondered what that meant. Grace=holy fetus? I guess she wouldn't be full until at least seven or eight months, though.

Hey that almost sounds like a Star Trek episode :-)

The phenomenological term is a simulacrum, like when people see "Allah" written in an aubergine. Many see such things as signs from God. In this case an mpeg artefact has created a halo over her head. I think we should see this as a sign that our devotion to Daria is not misplaced and that she is showing us the Way. Perhaps this is why so many priests are appearing on atd of late? Who'd have thought that a cartoon character might offer salvation? Truly the Millennium is upon us!

That's just my luck. Not only does the millenium come in my lifetime, it has to be before I've done all the stuff I want to do. Well, at least the messiah is someone I like.

In article ,

I'm reading a newsgroup about a cartoon character who is being seen as a new spiritual guiding light for the next century...
