Well, how I laughed! Maybe it was just the mood I was in, but I thought the first few scenes were among the funniest I've seen on Daria. The way that arrival built on arrival at the Lanes's put me in mind of Fawlty Towers. It began with the usual residents arriving one at a time and speculating on that stuff in the fridge, then it happened on a bigger scale as new Lanes (and others) turned up at the door(s). Fractal comedy.

Daria's fantasy Trent - in the first fantasy - was well done: the belly and body hair, the fading hopes of the musician manqu�.... Daria's realisation that she'd be carrying Trent if they got together. Did he remind anyone else of Jack Nicolson?

It looked like a real transition when Daria said, "I think I just got over something." But the writers threw a scrap to the 'shippers with that final fantasy, and Daria's "Damn!"

And now we know about Monique.

High points for me: Daria's "Eeyp!" when she learns Trent is staying, and Jane's "Look! A Duckie!"

On first viewing, a really enjoyable episode.

I think maybe it would have been a good idea to have put more than the episode number in the subject line though, as some people aren't well up on numbers. (I've added it now.)

Re the episode, I would agree with the guy who had just crossed the Sahara desert for a beer in the classic film, "Ice Cold In Alex": "Worth waiting for."

Yes.

Two further observations. Doesn't anyone in this town eat anything other than pasta anymore? And I only just realised that we were outside Lawndale HS for the whole ep. IIRC, we didn't see Brittany, Kevin, the Fashion Club; or anyone else who's presently at LHS, other than Daria, Quinn, and Jane.

We in the US don't get to see these new ones until the 7th of July! Rich just reported it on his Paperpusher site. It sounds quite funny from the earlier "Daria in Australia" thread and Fr. Martin's recent additions. I look forward to it.

The numbering is a pain in the neck, isn't it.

Note that episodes #306 and #308-#313 have not yet aired in the United States. Australia and the UK have already seen #306 and #308 (grrr!). Most of the plot descriptions for #306 and beyond were provided by MTV's Daria page. Episode #307 was broadcast as the season premiere in the U.S., though it was the seventh episode on the production schedule (thus its production number remains 307).

We've only seen #308 actually, I think 306 is this Saturday. Or possibly the week after. After last week's episode the presenter said to check out all the Daria stuff on the C5 website, so I think I'll do that right now.
