Daria books?

Has anyone ever gave thought to petitioning the powers that be for Daria books? When I was browsing through the bookstore I saw complete novels for shows like "Buffy", "Angel", "CSI" and "Alias". Surely the Daria writers would be happy to lend their talents to full novels of our favorite heroine. Hell it might even be better then the series. Why hasn't the creators even considered writing real books for Daria fans as opposed to ooks like "Diaries"?

Since it doesn't look like Daria will be making any returns to the small or big screen (Wonderfalls being a brilliantly brief substitute) and with the hopeful release of the long awaited DVD within the next year, amybe we fans should petition the creators and writers for novels. Those "Angel" and "CSI" novels are about 300 pages. They can have spinoff novels of Mystik Spiral, The Lanes and so on.

Good idea?

(Strangely enough, of all things one of the less successfull tv shows - Babylon 5 - inspired some novels that were not bad. No Nobel Price winning stuff however, but at least entertaining and really expanding the series' "universe".)

In another reply, fanfics were mentioned as an alternative. Well, I'm not really a fan of those either. But in most cases, they are not worse than the officially endorsed novels. And they are at least free.
