I have rumors that Daria is being cancelled or there is discussion within MTV/Viacom about wiether (sp?) Daria is being canceled. Can anyone confirm or deny those rumors?

What bothers me is the "and keep sending those letters" request. This can mean only two things to my paranoid mind:
1) That the news is good and "and keep sending those letters" is a ploy to cover for anyone reading too much into the above, or
2) Daria has been cancelled and sending letters is a last ditch attempt to sway the decision of the program directors...
Now before anyone MISREADS point two, we do NOT know at this stage if there will be a 6th season or not.
Anyways, I hope the ABC will pick season five...

I agree. But then again, if Glenn was willing to give Michelle a scoop, it might be good news. Let's say the "keep those letters coming" part means they're really not certain about cancelling Daria or not and one or more letters could make a difference. You all know what you have to do.

I don't know whether this is fact or not, so I'm making the space....
One theory I came up with is that perhaps instead of having a regular season for the sixth, they might be thinking of producing two or three made for television movies, one for the winter and two for the summer that would focus on Daria's college career. I don't see why they'd have a problem with that if they weren't willing to pay for a series anymore.

Actually, I see Penny as more of a ... well, not quite a "wannabe". Maybe she's just in South America because she sees herself as an entrepreneur trying to free herself from 'the system' and the outfit is strictly for practical reasons.
I'm reserving judgement on this one until I see the movie. My judgement on Joli, that is. Penny goes expecting handouts from local governments for her business setbacks. THIS lady's going to master the physical and mental disciplines that Croft must possess? I don't think so.
On the other hand, I've never even owned a game console, much less played the game "Tomb Raider". So what do I know?

I don't think Jodie is an interesting enough character, in fact the only ones I can see making it as spinoffs are Quinn or Trent, both of which would dwell on the dippy side of life.
As for a series six, having now seen a few episodes of series four I think five is going to be the limit, there seems to be a wild foraging for plot ideas already - last week they were telling each other ghost stories, this week it was guardian angels, it's getting perilously close to the notorious Holiday Island episode.

I always thought Jodie could be interesting if they gave her something more to do on the series. As far as a Quinn or Trent spinoff, not likely. Quinn without Daria as a foil just doesn't work. As for Trent, I'd settle for him getting something more to do in season five. Ditto with Jodie.

I remember those days clearly, when I lived in the USofA, I watched MTV when it played "music videos"... I clearly remember seeing the same four or five videos in constant rotation... As much I liked Def Leppard back then, 2 or 3 days of watching MTV and seeing Armogeddon It 3 times an hour was enough to put me off... and don't get me started about Tom Cochran, life is NOT a highway, more like a goat track...
Unfortunatly I can no longer compare MTV circa 1992 to MTV 2001, as I don't have pay TV and I live in Australia... but reading about all those "reality" shows that are on their way, I don't hold much hope for its improvment...
