Say, if Tom finds out about the riff that comes up between the two over the hair-dying incident from the clip for ep #413 (which I firmly believe will result in something bad happening), and he confronts Jane over it, looking for an explanation. Remember, we don't know what Tom's *really* thinking about Daria now. In Daria's case, she seems to be thinking about what she's feeling about Tom, and what could happen to her friendship with Jane. When/if Jane says something to Tom, he then confronts Daria, and both actually find out what's going on--and if there's something *really* there between them. Thanks.

Uh, Nicole...? Jane's jealousy is on the clip for the show on the MTV Daria website. Technically, it's not really a spoiler. I mean, our overseas friends can see it for themselves. :D Besides, everybody's talked about "Fire!" to death already in this newsgroup, ya know? I'm just adding my two cents in on the speculation. It's a spoiler because the episode hasn't aired -- and for some countries, won't air for quite some time.
And even if the clip is available, that doesn't mean everyone wants to see it. They might prefer waiting until the episode airs.
And everyone who is talking about "Fire!" is using spoilers out of courtesy for those who haven't seen it yet.
No. I really don't think Jane's being paranoid.
I do think that Jane is a bit desperate. As far as we know, Tom is her first serious boyfriend, and she's losing him.

I haven't yet seen the clip yet, but based on what I have seen, I think she's just getting in that desperate frame of mind, after all she may be losing probably her first serious relationship, possibly to her best friend, making it doubly worse for her. She's going through the hardest time in her life, everything seems to be happening all at once, and that may put a strain on her current mental well being, remember, she is a teenager still, those hormones combined with the current situation, could be causing her to think somethings going on, causing this jealousy or paranoid attitude. The resolution to all this sits in Tom's head.
Remember, nothings completely out in the open yet. We know Tom likes Daria as a friend by now, possibly more on the intellectual level more than the physical level, what we don't know yet, is if he likes her enough to try a possible love relationship, and break it off with Jane, or if they're just good friends who can relate on a higher intellectual level than Jane can, and try to work things out with her, possibly with Daria's help. Don't get me wrong, Jane's a smart girl, but not in the league Daria or apparently, Tom is in. Maybe Tom just likes Daria for the intellectual stimulation of someone else about his age, once we know his feelings, the puzzle may be solved.
We don't truly know Daria's intentions, thoughts or feelings either, by the last scene in "Fire!" we see she's debating long and hard over Trents words, she's not denying somethings there, she's trying to figure out what it is, a friendship or something more serious, and if it's more serious, what will become of Jane and their friendship? Again there's one big piece missing to this puzzle, when Tom comes out and admits whatever he's feeling, many of the pieces will fall into place.
When Tom speaks, we will all know whats going on, as far as Daria's feelings, I think she'd thnk the same way, wait for Tom's thoughts on the matter before making any final decision, but think long and hard on what to do with however Tom responds to all of this, and act accordingly.

Let's face it, it's a heartbreaking time for her. And the tragedy of it is that Jane hasn't really been doing anything wrong except be herself in the relationship. Since she's never been in love before she doesn't know that sometimes you have to make changes for the other person, think about that other half. Apparently she hasn't and that's why the relationship is in trouble. Man, if they actually go ahead with the break up.....well, that would make for some interesting episodes next season, but tough to get through.
I don't know....the last scene in ILAP, how he perked up when she entered Jane's house in "Fire"..... you're right that we don't know what's in Tom's head, but his actions are implying more than just a "friendship" feeling towards Daria. But I think at this point he's thinking Jane isn't sensitive to his own feelings. Maybe once he realizes how Jane really feels he might be forced to confront his own emotions.

I don't deny that there's a lot of evidence that he likes Daria more, and is happier when she comes by, Just that he's not definitely stated his thoughts and intentions in his own words yet. BTW, I think they'd do alright as a couple, it's a damn shame they'd have to devestate Jane in order to do it, though.
