Here in Fresno, the weather has been wonderful. The sun has _finally_ come out after el nino dumped a month of patchy rain on us, and it's been warm, almost summery, but not _too_ warm. Unfortunately, I spend my evenings doing pizza delivery. :(

That's not fair. It's pissing down with rain today. And I had to walk home in it! I bet it's stopped by the time everyone else goes home, though (I went home early, ill.... could'a gotten my mother to collect me, duh....). :/

Better than being totally broke all the time, probably. Well, so far only one person I know has chosen being broke over working, which is ironic because I would have *loved* her job had it not been for the getting up at 6am... which she does anyhow, so I'm not sure what the problem was.... Anyhow, her sister says she'll try to get me a job where she works....errm, Sainsbury's <lol>. Lovely uniforms, oh yes, haha.... But better than having no money.

The only "hot action" I see is at the nozzle end of a 1-3/4" hose line with burning debris hitting me on the helmet. And I can't really say I like it, no.

And since this thread has turned into the worldwide weather report, it's just a typical April day in Pittsburgh. It's cold, it's raining, it's been that way for three days, and it's supposed to stay that way for another four at least. And no one around here notices, because... it's April, and this is Pittsburgh. Until the wharves flood along the rivers, it's not an inconvenience.

Actually, I enjoy my job. This is my version of the job description: Drive around all night listeing to the radio. The only thing is that I'd rather be kicking back with some friends in someone's back yard, drinking a soda, or maybe even a beer, with beef sizzeling on the grill, a game of ping pong in the background, etc...

But, all of my good friends live in Berkely, or New York, or San Diego, or LA, or San Fransisco, scattered all about the country by the University Phenomenon.

Oh yes, I can see that, me walking around school carrying this big hat. Yeah, right. <g>

I hate you. :P Your job sounds alright. Working in Sainsbury's would totally suck. The pay's alright, �3.40/hour or something, but one of my friends gets �5/hour for sitting in a trailer doing nothing (she'd be serving ice-creams <lol>, only who buys ice-creams when it's cold?).

Heh. And I thought it was going to be difficult keeping in touch after the GCSEs... After A levels should be worse, my American friend is moving back to California after them. :(

*g* You guys should try living over here, where it's nice and humid most, if not all, the time. That'll mess up your hair permanently. I enjoyed my little visit of Sainsbury's in London, even if it only was for a few minutes and I didn't get a chance to actually buy anything. About the question of "who buys ice-creams when it's cold?" -- I can recall feeling chilly as I walked down the streets of London at night, 9 p.m., mid-March or so, must've been about 50 degrees out (which to me is kinda cold -- our winter highs are that low), and I happily strolled to Haagen Dazs to get myself a two-scoop cone for "supper". Was the best ice cream I've had, actually.

Aw, well there's always snail mail, and e-mail. My best friends from high school all live in town but go to different schools and have different schedules from each other, so keeping in touch is difficult. But we do manage, and we manage to meet up once a month unless it's simply not possible to do so.

My online friends...now that's a different story altogether, of course.

(California...1/4 of my family is from there...well, more specifically, the Bay Area....)

A friend of mine has never been back to one London branch of Sainsbury's after I went shopping there with him.

I was visiting for a few days, and at that time I didn't have a car. So my host hired one so we could make the most of the visit.

As I say, he never went back there....

You're like my parents then, as far as the "too sweet" part. They complain most everything that isn't labelled "sugar-free" is "too sweet" and insist on it not being in the house. Haha, the other day, my friend was threatening to stab me with a compass (the circle-drawing kind, not the magnetic thing... <g>) and was quite surprised when I showed no fear of being stabbed <lol>. He was going, like, "That's sharp - it'd hurt, you know..." so I took it off of him and stuck the point in the back of my hand... and the look on his face <lol>! No "sodas" at all, but there's sweets and stuff.... They just won't eat them, it's mostly my brother.

I have made yet more changes to my A level choices, incidentally. I put down to take Maths, Physics, Electronics, and Psychology, but Electronics and Psychology wouldn't fit in the timetable with the other subjects (or something), so I put down Chemistry instead and have now decided to take Art as well, if that's possible. I will probably end up dropping it because it's a lot of work, but I'd rather take too many subjects and have to drop one than decide halfway through the course that I could have coped with a fourth subject. And if I don't want to drop Art I can drop Chemistry, or only take the first year and get the AS level.

Hehe. :) I've done that before; doing an experiment thingie for Biology coursework, we had a nasty old razorblade to cut up potatoes with (it was about starch or something....), and I was bored so I used it on the back of my hand, much to the disgust of the people I was doing the experiment with <lol> :)
