The Art of Karen Disher

Does anybody from either group have a clue regarding other artwork by Karen Disher, the woman responsible for redeveloping Daria from Beavis and Butt-head?

A secondary character, variously known as Burn-out Chick Cindy and Burnout Girl, is based on Karen Disher's appearance. For those who just came in, she's the one who always wears a big brown jacket with a skull on the back and blue jeans or some other kind of pants. She has waist length blonde hair that falls down over one side of her face. Cindy never had a line of dialogue in the whole show, though she often showed up in the background.

She became a sort of in-joke of the producers of the show. Until she was profiled on the MTV Daria website, I didn't even know her name.

The character intrigues me. Burn-out Chick Cindy will play a role (and even have some lines!) in some fanfics I'm working on.

Wasn't she heard screaming in "The New Kid"? She was the girl who missed the trampoline in gym class and hit the floor.

That's sort of a line of dialogue ...

Interesting question. I have "The New Kid" on tape somewhere. I'll have to look for it. Granted, it's the Noggin version, so there's always a chance the scene you're talking about has been cut.

Nah, I'm pretty sure that was Brittany. Although she did call Kevin a geek in "Sealed With a Kick."

It was the pilot episode, only available on the first Daria VHS tape.

I checked my own (MTV, not Noggin) recording of "The New Kid," and Cindy is definitely the trampoline girl, and she does scream.

Hmmm, I wonder who did the scream. Maybe Karen Disher?
