Cake song "Daria"

I recently heard Cake had a song called "Daria," that was featured on the show. I'm not a fan of Cake, so I don't know whether the song was named after our favorite cancelled toon-show or not. Anybody know?

I think the song pre-dates the show. However, it was a song that was used on the closing credits of either a S1 or S2 song. My memory is not serving me well so I couldn't tell you exactly which.

However, Cake seems to be a favorite band of the "Daria" crew, because their songs show up so much in episodes. Too bad the guys from the band didn't get a chance to do a cameo in the show. Another favorite "Daria" band, The Foo Fighters, had a member, Dave Grohl, not do a limited cameo but play a crucial character in "Is It Fall Yet?".

That's how I found out. Somebody on the "Daria" message board at The-n.com mentioned it.

Dave Grohl was that pretentious artist who Stefanie (voiced by Biff Naked) was coming on to, if I'm not mistaken.

Cake being one of (if not) my favorite band(s)(and I live in sacramento, along WITH cake) and daria being my favorite television show, I know the two pretty well. The song 'daria' came out in 1996 one the album 'Fashion Nugget', while daria was first aired on it's origonal network, MTV in 1997. If ou accually listen to the song (which is quite funny) it has no relevence to the tv show. As to a whole bunch of Cake''s songs being in either the credits or the show itself(rock 'n' roll life style, daria, never there, etc...) the band is just as witty as daria(comparing real life people to an animated one...would you say it 'kinda makes you think'?) ...
