Fashion Club's status

VERY MINOR SPOILER FOR SEASON 4 . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . Is the Fashion Club an "official" club (sponsored by LHS) or just a clique? I can see evidence for both views:

AN OFFICIAL CLUB:

The Fashion Club had its own float in ILAP.

In "The New Kid", the Fashion Club was worried about cutbacks in the number of pages devoted to traditional clubs in the yearbook.

JUST A CLIQUE:

They never have meetings (except "emegency meetings" in the hall) at school, always at one of the girls' houses.

They've never been seen to have a faculty advisor.

Any ideas? Something I've missed?

I think your right on both accounts. It's possible that it is a clique that acheived a "quasi-club" status.

We had a group of people who did the same thing back in my High School. They started off as a clique but still got their own section in the yearbook.

The weren't "officially" recognized as club sponsored by the school but a lot of the popular crowd belonged to the group so they got special billing.

Believe me it happened!

2 things, both supporting the official club notion:

1) "The Old and the Beautiful" During the assembly at the end Ms. Li states "...and here's Lawndale High's Fashion Club, here with a generous donation of clothes to the needy."

2) If you can remember the previous incarnation of the MTV site, they had a page for LHS discussing it's many clubs and the FC was there, I believe. I think the link to it may still be available on the links page at Outpost Daria.
