Dagny, you've made a fair point. I guess not all schools are as crummy as the one I went to. But as schools in my country go, it wasn't really so bad. I only had to carry a knife for the last three months I was there. I still don't know if I would have been capable of using it. Luckily I never had to find out. I still find it hard to believe that even a nice school could be so different. But what the Hell would I know?

Well, in terms of actual violence, Grandville High School is a very safe place to be, even though half the Grandville police force was there a while last year (of course half the police force isn't much, I think over the summer that's how many they employed in pulling over Steve Drueke for speeding, and now they're in charge of making sure everyone gets into Rivertown Crossings mall). Of course this pretty well reflects Grandville, there has only been one murder in the history of Grandville (this guy killed his wife like a gzillion years ago)

god. the last time I had something titled like "Dear Dagny" it was to attack me (in poetic form) for looking skeptically at prayer and actually thinking about political candidates (as opposed to voting for whoever seems nice)

Daria shows enough determination to defend herself in *her* environment (and Dagny in hers) that neither of them is marked as a "victim", and hence extreme sorts of victimization do not happen to them.

One can get unlucky, of course, but neither of them has.
