What if Jake and Helen divorced, and Helen went out with Trent?

(Okay, it had to be pretty debateable, or at least be able to draw some comment. I think we've beaten the whole Daria/Trent thing to death.)

For one thing, while it might not be immediately apparent, Jake and Helen actually are a loving and committed couple. They show it when they can tear themselves away from their six-figure jobs as syncophants and spend some time with each other.

For another thing, Helen is a high-achieving lawyer interested in breaking through the glass ceiling at work. She's unlikely to be interested in the narcoleptic Trent. In fact I sometimes wonder what her daughter Daria sees in him except that he's a little more interesting than most of the fools at school who can't appreciate brainy chicks. Of course he does show at least a tiny amount of interest in Daria. Women sometimes go for that.
