The biggest misconception about Daria that some make is that she is a "nerd". People look at the glasses and the outfit and make that assumption. There has been more than one episode of the series that played on that.

Quite possibly. The difference between Daria and Dexter, however, is that Daria has been developed and Dexter is merely a comic stereotype. That doesn't mean that the Daria series is free of such stereotypes though; just look at Kevin!
Essentially, Daria IS a nerd (but I guess "nerd" must be considered a bad word in Lawndale, as I only heard "brain" and "misery chick" coming from her many detractors). That doesn't mean that "nerd" girls can't be pretty, though (and I've seen some really pretty ones), because I find Daria attractive myself! :)
Hey, you could count one of the new episodes where Dexter and a friend of his were clad in drag (to get into the girls' restroom)! :)
Exactly! IMHO, Daria, Jane, Trent and Tom are the four coolest characters on the show, and relate to them more, partially because they're two, even three-dinemsional! Most, perhaps all, of the other characters look like they stepped out of a one-dimensional stereotype catalog!
DEXTER'S LABORATORY is meant to be a silly cartoon, whereas DARIA has comic realism. But that's comparing apples to oranges! :)

Hmm... I sometimes wonder about those guys in CN. They get Chicken into the girls' room, now they do it with Dexter! Come to think of it, didn't Utonium and Mojo Jojo do something similar?

Not quite all of them. Quinn and Stacey started showing some personal growth in IIFY and the 5th season. Quinn continues to mature in IICY. I'm not the only fan who thinks the Fashion Club had a lot of dramatic and comic potential that was never explored on the show.
IIRC Glenn Eichler said somewhere that he wanted to end the show before they started repeating themselves. They could've avoided that by featuring some more personal growth of the Fashion Clubbies. Of course, shifting the focus of the show from Daria and Jane to the Fashion Fiends would make it an very different show.
That's a very good point, Steve! Yeah, I'll admit I was kinda' touched by the personal growth of Quinn and the Fashion Club (even though I regularly couldn't stand them), especially in IICY. I have to agree.
