Is it just me, or does Daria not really belong on MTV? I can't watch any of the other MTV shows for even one minute, yet Daria is about the only show on all of television that I enjoy. Where DOES Daria belong? Comedy Central wouldn't be a terrible idea, but her humor isn't quite along the same lines as most of their shows.

I have to admit that in spite of what I'd heard about the show before it premiered, I really like it.
Compare with Comedy Central-- they've let South Park become completely unwatchable, and the only other series they produce, Dr. Katz, is hardly what I'd call "animated." More like "vibrated." :P Everything else is an import or a rerun. But for some reason, nobody complains about the quality over at CC.
Same goes for Nick. They haven't really produced anything groundbreaking in a while-- they managed to turn a series like "Rugrats" into a bland, boring mess, rather than keeping its edge, and they also ruined "Ren and Stimpy" as well.
The only other network that really appears to be trying to break new ground is CN.

When I watch Nickelodeon, I expect to watch a no-brainer show. I enjoy the cartoons there because they're, well, cartoons. No hidden agenda really, just regular kiddie cartoons. I admit there isn't really anything "groundbreaking" but that's not what I watch Nickelodeon for. As long as they make me laugh, I'm a happy camper :)

I understand, but the early "Rugrats" was not only funny for the kiddies, but also for their parents as well. (But on a subtler level.) That subtext was ruined when Nickelodeon got rid of all of the original creative staff. Same thing with "Ren and Stimpy"-- when Nick fired the Spumco folks, the show turned into a series of bad fart jokes. It's true that sometimes cartoons only need to be cartoons, but the great cartoons are the ones that are funny on a number of levels, not just the obvious ones. It's ironic, considering that Nick made a big deal about making shows that kids and parents could watch together, then dumbing ths shows down when it turned out that the kids would watch whether the writing was good or not.
Cartoon Network. They produce shows like Dexter's Laboratory, Cow & Chicken, The Powerpuff Girls, Johnny Bravo, and others. Very silly stuff. Some of it's good, some isn't so great. But they're putting out new stuff frequently.
That goes without saying. ;-)

More likely C4, as BBC2 might trim it for time; I was watching some old Ren & Stimpys recorded from BBC 2, and a lot of them had bits trimmed. Not sure if the Simpsons have been cut for time though (probably not, there'd be complaints).
One hopes they're kicking themselves. But they're probably not.

As long as it NEVER winds up in the hands of the Big 4 Networks, I don't mind much where Daria is shown (well, as long as it's on a channel my cheeseball cable company will carry). Imagine the horror if this show were on CBS -- could you deal with an entire season of episodes like "The Lost Girls" or "Just Add Water"? And as much as I liked DTAH, I would NOT want an entire season of that! ABC would probably put it on Friday Night (TGIF) -- MAYBE I could tolerate that (or not). Or the networks might give us the overly-sensitive approach & we'd have an entire season of episodes like "The Misery Chick" or "Jake of Hearts" (sans DJs) with little or no levity (e.g. "Daria!) And if the show were on FOX, Daria and Trent would probably be sleeping together by now (NOOOOOOO!!!!!) and then there would be a whole season dealing with a relationship that would be illegal in most states and we would just sit around waiting for the inevitable messy breakup. And the horrors of sweeps periods! No chaste little kisses for D&T !! What the networks might cook up then could drive away even the most hardcore 'shippers (myself included).
MTV, for all its flaws & missteps, has redeemed itself in my eyes with this show. And the music beats almost anything you'd hear on "Felicity" or "Dawson's Creek". With this show, I can forgive MTV almost anything (except Isle of MTV, Global Groove, TRL, Undressed, and Kurt Loder).

Basically it's the story of a performing troup of muppet-style animals... but it's the Muppet Show's dark side. Drug abuse, torture, murder, venereal disease, and a psychotic hippo on a shooting spree. It's a parody of the Muppet Show, and one of my favorite movies.
The director and co-writer is New Zealander Peter Jackson, known for producing splatter horror movies (Dead Alive, Bad Taste) as well as The Frighteners (horror/comedy from 1996 starring Michael J. Fox) and is in the pre-production stages of the Lord of the Rings trilogy, filming in New Zealand.
As with most of his movies, Meet the Feebles was filmed in and features actors from New Zealand.

Hey, thanks guys.
I guess I'm just weirded out because I found out only 10% of 20-year-old college students in the US are virgins. I know I've had enough chances for me to lose that, but I couldn't, not with the prior company I'd been close to intimacy with. I think though with Barry I've found The One. Thanks again for making this feel quite real.
p.s.: I know my parents must be at least slightly thrilled at this, although Mom does harp on me about wanting to be a grandmother...sheesh, she isn't even 60 yet....
