.smil? Perhaps .smi files? If so, those are sort of "commercial" files that currently (IIRC) only RealPlayer supports. They allow you to place banners, text, etc. around whatever it is you're displaying, be it video, audio, or a slide show. And in that case there's no way since they're usually only a handful of k in size and only have layout information. Looking at Sound Forge's save options I don't see anything like .smil...if it *isn't* .smi files you're talking about, then can you please give more information?
