OK, made it!

Well, yesterday I ended up getting *very* lost on my way home...so lost I was only 80 miles away from *Austin*, if you could believe it...and I ended up spending about an hour and a half on the highway trying to navigate my way home. The interesting thing is, even though two years ago I was a nervous wreck about even driving through very small, out of the way streets, I was very calm, collected, and actually enjoyed the experience.

There's something else to this story. The day before yesterday I started listening to this new radio station we got here -- an all-*disco* radio station. OK, well, it doesn't *just* play disco, it plays, um, "party music", from the '70s and '80s. And I've been addicted to this radio station. So anyways, I had one of my Duran Duran tapes with me while I was busily getting lost, and decided to give it a rest while I listened to the radio station. And I *loved* it. I *loved* listening to all the dance songs, like "I Wanna Dance With Somebody", "Lady Marmalade", "Let's Groove", "Last Dance", "Freak Out", "Rhythm of the Night", etc.

When I got home, I got to thinking...this strange behaviour seems familiar. It then hit me -- I'm a Quinn when driving. Eeep indeed. I then thought of what you guys would say and how *you* drive. Are you a Daria when driving or a Quinn? And...what makes you a Daria or a Quinn when driving?

*gulp* I'm a *Quinn* when driving. Oh, the irony....

i'm not old enough to drive.... Although i am lucky enough to have been born (just) before the end of 1982, so i will be allowed to drive at seventeen, instead of eighteen like most of my year. ;) (Anyone who is 17 after the end of this year has to wait until they are 18 to drive, apparently.)

The only difference between Daria and Quinn is the amount of experience they have behind the wheel. Possibly another difference is that Daria is a little more responsible than Quinn (OK, a LOT more) and more cognizant of the value of the expensive vehicle she's in charge of and the amount of damage it can do. If you're more confident in your driving it must be because you've gotten enough practice to develop some skill. Kudos!

I have almost zero practice, and when I get behind the wheel I still think "death machine". I figure everyone's safer if I don't drive.

I'm a DeMartino with a shotgun when driving. As in, it's best for all humanity if I don't. And if I do someone's very likely to get hurt.

<snip trip descrip>

My maleness might make this completely irrelevant, but I must say I completely approve of your methods of dealing with a long trip. Personally, if I had to chose, I would _choose_ to be Quinn while in a car. Daria is not only boring, but incompetant when it comes to dealing with long trips. 'Corse, Quinn _could_ let the driver pick the station. She was kind of a jerk there.
