MTV's Cool Crap

If any of you guys watched part of MTV's Cool Crap Catalogue (right after DTAH on 5/16), you would've known they're auctioning some MTV stuff on their website - coolcrap.mtv.com.

Normally, I wouldn't give a damn about such things. HOWEVER, they are selling some ANIMATION CELLS. Yep, for all you Beavis and Butthead fans, and you Aeon Flux fans out there, there are cells up for bid. They are getting more expensive by the minute, so I'd get cracking and bid NOW.

The burning question of course, is are there any Daria merchandise up for bid. Well, guess what, there IS... sort of. They're selling some sort of Daria Answering Machine Message - where she'll leave a personalized outgoing message on your answering machine! Let me paste the description of the item here:

Now I don't have an answering machine (I rely on a message center instead), so I can't make use of this. Plus, I don't think I can afford it. But I bet some of you are interested, so I thought I'd let you know.

In the US "pissed off" also means annoyed or disaffected. Well maybe more angry than just annoyed. We also just simply shorten it to "pissed" or also "PO'd". It's sometimes said that "It's better to be pissed off than to be pissed on."

There are a plethora of euphemisms for intoxication in common use but I've never heard "pissed" used in that context.

The long form is "pissed as a newt". As to where the idea came from that newts are commonly in a state of inebriation, I don't know.

There seem to be a whole range of animal euphemisms of dubious applicability, "raining cats and dogs" for instance. Rains of sand, fish, and frogs I know of, but not cats and dogs, nor do I see how they would be equated with rainfall of the aqueous kind. Then there's "dead as a dodo", which may yet prove to be inappropriate too, since some cryptozoologists think there may still be a few dodos left deep in the forests of Mauritius.

I hear that one of Brittany's favourite expressions is "Dreary as a Daria" BTW.

it means drunnk over here, pissed off is annoyed/angry lol... bit of a difference, and a bit out of character for Daria i reckon! erm, well not the american meaning, the british one,... never mind, ok? sorry lol, am a bit hyper today, so apologies for any spelling/ grammatical mistakes or nonsensical babble, i'm a bit "odd" again today lol...
