Hi, y'all ... se ya later!

Just checking all the posts that went up while I've been away this week. I'm currently recovering from the flu & from relatives who've been fleeing Hurricanes Gert & Floyd. As I write this, a tropical depression is forming in the Gulf & it could become T.S. Harvey in the next 12 hours. (Who in the HECK names these storms? Who would be afraid of anything named HARVEY? It can be dangerously misleading. No one seemed afraid of Hurricane Opal 4 years ago, & it made a horrific mess of Alabama.) The Weather Channel is postulating that the storm could turn toward the northeast & dump lots of rain on Florida, Georgia, and (sigh) the Carolinas. (Paperpusher, have you ever considered moving to someplace hurricane-free? North Dakota is looking pretty good to _me_ right about now).

I've got a big job interview tomorrow morning. Wish me luck.

Pros:
    Spectacularly beautiful landscape (green plants and trees *everywhere*)
    If you're in the most populous areas, you're usually about 1.5 hour's+/- drive
from snowy mountains OR nice coastline.
    Quite nice people, for the most part
    No:  Hurricanes, tropical storms, earthquakes (serious ones, at least),
tornadoes, golf-ball sized hailstorms, etc.
    It's hardly ever really hot (over 90 degrees F.) or really cold (Under 50
degrees F.)
    What's a "water control ordinance?"
    Oregon:  No sales tax.

Cons: It rains rather a lot.

It really is a great bargain, especially if you're like me and love the rain. :-D

damn that's nice. Of course it's rarely over 90 here but it gets rather cooler than 50. I'm used to cold by now, and I hate heat. I can't operate in heat.
