Maybe they think you need socks appeal.
heheh... I got some socks in my stocking (hahah- socks, stocking- OK it's not that clever) but I also got the cool stuff I asked for: a couple Dylan CDs, books (Steppenwolf by Hesse and Molloy, Malone Dies, and the Unanable by Samuel Beckett), and fun stuff like that.

i've never received socks for christmas... i'm surprised, because usually i get treated like a bloke in ways like that.
people always buy me chocolate... it's quite obvious that i neither need nor want chocolate, why must they buy me chocolate?!?

As ISTR I said last year, just send it to me and I'll dispose of it humanely. Mmmmm, chocolate....
Perhaps you should spend early December telling people how much you like CDs? And, to avoid having someone else's taste foisted upon you, what a wonderful invention record tokens are?
Martin.

I got forbidden planet tokens. My Dad wants me to be more geeky :)

Hmm. I did once see one of the Daria books in the Nottingham branch of FP, so all may not be lost!
Of course, you could spend the tokens on one of those life-size Lara Croft cutouts, then give it to Dad for his next birthday...
Martin.
Heh, I actually love FP :) My mind is already colonised :P
Hmmm.... when you first posted that, I went to my local FP, and asked at the counter (upstairs) about Daria books, and she said, "Daria? That's animation isn't it? Go downstairs, then", giving me that look that says 'you are stupid. I know you are stupid because you are here, and only a geek would be here, and geeks like the x-files, and only stupid people watch the x-files. Oh, and you only watch Daria because it's animated, and you only watch animated shows because you are stupid. Why don't you get Buffy instead?' , so I meant downstairs, and talked to the person there. I said: "Ummm.. do you have any 'Daria' stuff?", to which he replied "yup. books or videos". "Ummm... either. Ummm... videos" (FP just makes me nervous, okay!). So he went and checked and then came back and said "no videos". "Books?" I asked. "Upstairs". At which point I gave up and bought, on an random whim, Drangonball manga comics instead. (It should be noted that I had never heard of Dragonball, and can't receive the cartoon - I think I just liked the name). This lead inevitably to me buying a certain comic several months later, which is the reason why not one but two droughts are currently vexing me mightily (Jhonen Vasquez has taken three months off from JtHM, to do an all-colour spinoff about boring ol' Devi and play lots of Final Fantasy Eight...) Wow! That was a pointless and unnessecary explanation!
Heh, there is no way I could buy one of those. For crying out loud, I'd be too embarrassed to buy Sailor Moon (If I didn't hate it), just 'cos theres normally some leggy girls on the cover!. Half the time I'm scared to flick through the manga racks in search of random obscurities with good names in case someone thinks I'm ogling Sailor Venus, or somesuch....
it's being disposed of rapidly by me, unfortunately. i was given a large box of after eight mints, "continental" chocolates, and a big bag of.. somethings... after eights are disappearing v. quickly...
MDs now.... i smashed my CD player up back in august, have been "borrowing" my dad's, until xmas, when i received a minidisk player. it's very small. :-)
i wouldn't want to imagine what my relatives would buy me in the way of music... *shudder* :)

Hey man....I now live prolly 8000 miles away from my mom now,...and I STILL got the annual bra/undies/socks package from her. Will be getting it until the day I die I'm sure. Think of it this way, maybe they don't want your feet to be cold??
