Hmmm... If I were someone else, I'd say look on Dejanews.com or deja.com or mutilatedcows.com or whatever they are this week. But I'm Mindy, so I'll jsut tell you I saw "Daria" sometime in sixth or seventh grade, at home, and I believe the first episode I was honored to view was "Esteemsters," although it could have been "The Invitation." Obviously I'm not too clear on it.

Quinn The Brain, October 1998, wasn't that impressed to start with, then again I did watch this whilst recovering from much alcohol consumption the night before :-) Got me hooked pretty soon actually and I ended up downloading all the real video episodes and watching them as well. I'm pretty well hooked now :-) Actually I had been waiting for Channel 5 to start re-showing it, and un-fortunatly missed the first couple of episodes oh well..

Just incase you all were curious about my response(yeah right), here it is.

I remember vaguely where i was when i first saw "Daria".It was a lovely summer day in the summer of '97, in July i believe but i could have been August. I was in Pennyslvania visting my Great Grandma and it was getting later, somewhere from the time period of 7-10 'o clock. I turned on mtv and there was a new show i had never seen or heard of before , so ,i decided to watch it. It was the episode "Pinch Sitter", a great episode to start off with. After that, I was hooked. Yes. Malled, when it was first on MTV UK. I'd been meaning to watch Daria, but had forgotten the previous weeks.

I have a terrible memory for things like that. I can remember some types of things very well, can quote paragraphs from things I've read, can remember perfectly songs I heard once months ago, but I can't remember that I have to do something. Hmph.

I don't precisely remember which ep it was for me, but I think it may have been "The Big House." I was watching these kids, and the older one, about 11 or 12 years old, turned on Daria. I was a little wary, thinking, "MTV Cartoon, his parents might not like this..." but I watched a little, and was absolutely hooked, and saw absolutely nothing I would expect from an "MTV Cartoon." What was funny was that the middle kid, maybe 8 years old, said "Hey, isn't that a cussing show?" A small argument ensued between him and his brother, and I assured him it wasn't. Apparently, he knew what to expect from an "MTV Cartoon" as well. ;)

When I first read that post, the Deja.com online poll in the left column was for "Kids say the darndest things".

To keep things on topic, I first started Daria watching with "Esteemsters", when it first premiered on MTV Europe, my interest being piqued by the fact it featured the character from Beavis & Butthead.

Well, i do believe it was "Esteemsters" in Early March of 97. I caught most of the first 5-6 eps, then I sorta lost track of the show. (Hm, losing track of "Daria" airing times doesn't seem too implausible, IMNSHO. <g>) I got completely hooked one night during that Fall after MTV ran a mini-marathon right before they started re-running a lot of the Season 1 eps. During that marathon, I realized that each and every episode had something to say in its own unique way, a light went on, and I realized that this was probably some of the best TV I'd ever laid my bleary bloodshot eyes upon. <g> I've been hopelessly hooked ever since, and I've been badly spoiled TV-wise-- now I hardly ever watch the network sitcoms anymore-- most don't even come close to the work done on "Daria," -- with some notable exceptions-- "SportsNight" being one of them-- the pacing and tempo on that show is absolutely incredible, and "Furniture To Go/FOTM" --- those guys cracked me up-- yeah, it was "How-To," but it was *funny.*
