I've written a fan fiction piece

IQ

(The students take an IQ test)

which I would like people to read and comment on.

Its available at either my home page

or the fan fiction sight

I really want some feedback on it, positive or negative.

Dear William,

(STORY SPOILERS) * * * * * * * * * * * * * * ROFL!!! Pretty good twist at the end, which you foreshadowed well with the comment about the throat cultures. I can easily see Brittany secretly being a lot smarter than she acts (wouldn't be hard, and there have been hints of it in the TV show) ... though I can't see any girl who was smart and SANE inflicting Kevin on herself. :)

I think that in the show's main worldline the deal with Brittany is that she's a bright girl with some fairly high specific aptitudes, who has a serious self-esteem problem resulting from her family situation. She's already seen one mother replaced by a newer model, and she has had no reason growing up to think that anything other than being cute and bubbly is prized by her images of manhood.

Daria and Jane are clearly meant by the writers to be high-end geniuses; Daria's more skilled in verbal arts (her writing, that perfect deadpan sarcasm) and Jane in visual and plastic arts (her paintings and sculptures). Daria would probably do well on an IQ test because she tries hard at everything she does; Jane might just not bother to try (remember their relative math grades).

Sincerely Yours, Jordan

Those things are DANGEROUS.

I scored 158 in our school's, and 160 was genius level, and if they call me "Two-Point" one more time...

Kyle wrote (about IQ tests):

We don't do them at school. We did some kind of intelligence test in year 7 but we weren't allowed to know the results. I know I got highest in my class (my mother worked at my school for a while), but my class was notorious for being full of idiots, so that's not saying much.

"Two-point", eh? It's better than "Sally", which is what I have been named by some members of my year group.... "Harry" being my friend Scott. Hmm. The most logical explanation I have managed to get so far is as follows: "Why do you call me 'Sally'?" "Because Scott's 'Harry'." "Why is Scott 'Harry'?" "Because you're 'Sally'."

I take it you haven't seen the movie. Maybe they're trying to tell you something. Or maybe they want you to tell them something. Or maybe they just think you look like Meg Ryan. You haven't made a "scene" in a restaurant lately have you?

I haven't, although I have heard things about it, none of which seemed particularly appropriate, which is why I inquired as to why everyone was saying "It's Harry and Sally!" whenever they saw us two anywhere near each other, and "It's Sally! Where's Harry?" whenever they saw me without "Harry"...

Excuse my ignorance, but: what?

Should I be proud or ashamed to admit that I have no idea who Meg Ryan is?

I haven't even *been* in a restaurant lately. :)

Very, very priviledged, since you've avoided getting a lecture from your mother about how you should take medication to become Meg Ryan.... ick.

I've recieved lectures from my mother about how nothing's wrong with me and I don't need any medication and I'm fine, but none about taking medication to become Meg Ryan, no, and that's something for which I can no doubt be thankful. :)

I guess you need to see the movie. While I never imagined it possible, it appears that "When Harry Met Sally" has become cultural knowledge, ie., it can be safely assumed that everyone knows about it and it can be quoted with some assurance that everyone will know what you're talking about. (Well, apparently not EVERYONE.) Sort of like how you can quote Daria here in A.T.D and everyone knows what you're talking about.

The movie is about a man and a woman who are friends and debate having their relationship become more intimate. Frankly I think it's pretty much a chick flick and it bores the hell outta me but I have been able to sit through part of it. It has its moments. I suspect your friends/associates envision a similar close relationship for you. Kinda "high-school," isn't it? I hate it when childish individuals with no life of their own tease others about their interpersonal relationships. What business is it of theirs anyway?

Meg Ryan starred as Sally in the movie. A pretty good actress, really cute, perky, blonde. I'll bet she could play Brittany in a live-action Daria movie.

While you should never profess to be proud of your ignorance, there's probably no shame in not knowing something you don't really care about if it's of trivial importance.

If you see the movie you'll understand this part. A very famous movie scene. I'd watch the movie for this scene and skip the restor you could skip the whole thing and just take my word for it.
