It appears my post on trent, 'Trent', has arroused a bit of a disscussion. I've read a post about sun gods and a few about drugs, HELL i've read one about the way to measure alcohol. All together In my ORIGINAL post little bit i had 103 replies in a month and have just found a seperate reply post with 58! Just goes to show, you find the right subject....and... Take a look at the computer in her room. Closely.

You see the monitor, you see the keyboard. Nothing else. Theoretically she could have a Pee Cee, with the tower under the desk, but that looked an awful lot like an iMac on her desk.

So dig it: DARIA HAS AN iMAC!!!!

I figure she has a Rev B, standard Bondi Blue. The iMacs didn't get the color (flavor) makeover until Rev C.

However, I suspect that Quinn would get a Rev C or later iMac sometime in the future, color-coordinated with her room. What would look better with Quinn's room, I wonder? Strawberry, Grape, Blueberry, Tangerine or Lime?

In the book "The Daria Database" she is shown in front of a machine which could be a Performa 630 all the way to a Performa 6300, although it's got a lower profile which looks more like a Quadra/Centris 610, Quadra/Centris 660AV, or PowerMac 61xx.

Well, AV Quadras and all Powermacs have theoretical compatibility with Plaintalk which was Apple's attempt at Voice Recognition.

However, the episode *did* show Daria using a keyboard. It was just in another shot.

Speaking of endorsements...

MTV and Apple have seemingly had only brief interactions with each other. The MTV web site has always been heavy on using QuickTime for the sole format for video clips, but I think this is due to QuickTime's initial wide acceptance. (Or due to Microsoft's chasing bigger fish, trying to force QuickTime out of CNN's web site, rather than the smaller fish of MTV.)

The only time I can even recall Apple officially endorsing anything on MTV, was MTV's Road Rules and Real World shows, where a Mac was the computer that sat on a desk, and occasionally saw some camera time. (The Amelio to Jobs transition at Apple quickly saw that endorsement disappear however.)

Back to the original point however, I don't believe the excellent writers at the Daria show are paying attention to details this small in the show (given by the bizarre size and shape of the computer... the monitor is almost the same size as Daria's head!) If they were Daria would for sure be using a Mac and driving a Saturn. Both Macs and Saturns are for the truly obsessed.
