So what are all you weirdoes doing for Halloween? Any of you creative
types come up with an excellent costume? Do share. As for me, I'm
again doing the Angel of Death costume I had last year. It actually is
fairly frightening. I have a black hood/mask I wear over my face, a
front lace up black with white sleeves renaissance type shirt, a flowy
sheerish looking long black skirt, and of course my black, hooded velvet
cloak. Oh yes, and the scythe sickle thing definitely completes the
getup. Well, it makes ME happy at least. :-D
Bye. :-)

P.S.: Everyone wish Jordan a happy birthday--it's his today! (The 30th.)
I don't celebrate halloween. I never was allowed to until I turned 13 (at which point my parents began to allow me to make my own moral decisions). Now, I don't care enough to celebrate it. Maybe next year.
I do take no small amount of pleasure in telling people they are "going to hell" for giving out candy to Trick or Treaters.

I like candy corn. Popcorn balls, if made right, are also good (I almost spelled that "god"! Freudian slip? ;p ) But "Smarties" are the best! :)

I like it too. I used to eat the pieces in layers. First, I'd bite off the
white tip, and then the orange middle section, until all that was left was the
disc-shaped white base. But then, I don't do that anymore...as since I'm well
past the age where trick-or-treating is socially acceptable, I haven't really
had the opportunity to eat candy corn.
I've seen a new kind of candy corn where the end sections are now black
instead of white. Is that standard now? No wonder Mr. Bassior found it icky, in
that case. %-{)>
I never got popcorn balls. I do recall we'd always be angry with anyone who would deign to try and give us fruit (my mom wasn't too happy with that, either. Fretful mother that she was, she worried that fruit was too easy to hide razor blades and whatnot in). I dare not even tell you the feelings we had for those who snuck religious (read: Christian) propaganda into our bags.
My favourites: anything chocolate. Oh, and Tootsie Pops.

Well, on the off-chance that I'm going to a party or something this Halloween I might wear a costume, but it'll take some quick thinking on my part. I haven't thought of anything yet. Last time I went out for Halloween I was a lumberjack, because I already had a flannel shirt, old jeans, boots, and a wool cap. I only ended up having to buy suspenders. I made an axe out of a paper towel roll and a pizza box. It didn't cost me much, but I had to hear people singing that Monty Python song at me all night. :/

update#2: i have been offered an ultimatum - go in costume, or don't bother showing up.
as originality is not my strong point, i am going looking like i usually look, and saying i'm dressed as a dead person. if you've ever seen what i usually look like*, this will be fully understood.
*an example of this can be found at the following url: http://village.vossnet.co.uk/y/yannaco/photo.htm note that i don't usually wear pink.
It's a little late, but Happy Birthday! My sisters was on the 30th as well and she turned the dreaded 30 today. Mine was on the 21st, I turned 24. Usually we celebrate on the same day because they're so close to each other, because she hit 30 though she didn't feel like celebrating, I wonder why :-)

Marie made me a really good cake. I had a piece yesterday ... I hope to have more today :)

I'm prolly jus' gonna chill and hand out candy to the neighborhood munchkins-- I'm tired from a long day of activity, and a long evening of more activity. (That, and I got stuck in Dallas with a very nasty illness, and didn't have enough time to plan something cool for Halloween-- it's a big deal 'round these parts, and it requires planning if you're gonna do it *right*.)
Happy Birthday, Old Fart! ;-) (Says someone who turned 30 a few months ago as well.) Nah, seriously, though, hope you had an enjoyable 30th.

Don't sweat it-- it's just a reference to a show that got cancelled over here about 20 years ago, that apparently only I and a few others ever bothered to watch.

Daria: Sorry, with all of this animation, I thought I was on Nickelodeon for a moment.
My concept was originally going to be a hopping Chinese Mandarin vampire. However, the only costume hire place we found didn't do mandarin costumes, so it became a hopping triad/filipino gangster vampire, complete with yellow imobilisation charm. I filled my pockets with Chinese candies, with the intention of liberally dispensing them, but I still ended up bringing a load home with me. I got a set of rubber claws, the sort that slip over the end of your fingers; by the end of the evening my finger tips were all sweaty and my left thumb was purple... There may be a picture available at some point in the future.
The party I went to was held in the comic shop I frequent. The group I work with on a small press comic all decided we'd go together in costume; when we got there we found we were pretty much the only ones who'd bothered to dress up in costume! There were only 2 or 3 other becostumed types.
After we all crashed back at my place, we tried to stay up to watch Channel 4's showing of the 1929 Nosferatu (at 4:30 am), but I ended going to bed at 5...
