Review: #10 Dream, by Rey Fox

That was insane. "#10 Dream" seems to be a twisted combination of Daria and Monty Python's Flying Circus, The Muppet Show, Saturday Night Live, or any other comedic variety show I can come up with. It almost had nothing to do with Daria, but the characters were used in such a way that is seems entirely appropriate. It was absolutely hilarious; I was lauging my arse off just about the entire time, and when I wasn't doing that, I was being boggled by the sheer unpredictability and audacity of this fic. It worked incredibly well.

I can't give it four stars due to the fact that it uses the characters in highly... unorthodox ways. However, despite it's highly unusual format and subject, it still does a pretty good job of staying with the characters. My only complaint is when Upchuck seems to be taking on aspects of other characters, like when he says a very Kevinish "Oh, MAN!" Otherwise, they were very well used, in a very difficult environment. I'd have to say this one is an even more challenging one than the Hitchikers crossover.

I'm tempted to give it a five, due to the fact that, despite it's totally incoherant nature, it remains highly readable. But, I keep it at a four, simply because it may be difficult to follow, especially for one not versed in this particular genre. There are no glaring spelling errors, puncuation is used well, and it can be followed, despite the fact that Fox seems to have wrote this while frying on acid. ;p

Absolutely brilliant. No real story to it, or at least it doesn't follow a story _format_. But the idea is totally unique; I've never seen another one like it, among fanfic. It's just... insane. And extremely well done.
