Daria's Inferno -- HELP ME!!! part 2

I mentioned in an earlier post that I had some trouble with this game. Everytime I went through a door way I'd get this message:

"DariasInferno.exe./ cd=D: This program has performed an illegal operation and will be shut down. If the problem persists, contact the vendor."

When I clicked on details I got this: "Windows Graphics Device Interface core component accessed memory improperly or encountered some nonspecific error."

After this my desktop resolution was all scewed up, the Windows start button on my keyboard didn't work, and the CD-ROM drive wouldn't happen. I had to restart the computer just to get things to work write.

After contacting the tech support people (still no response) and returning the game and getting a new one I still had the same problem. Out of desperation I opened the README file and found the problem:

"KNOWN PROBLEMS ---------------------------------------- DARIAS INFERNO uses special fades between levels and when exiting the game. In some rare cases, certain video cards crash while this happens. Try updating your driver to the latest version or adding the /DontFade option to the command line. Right click on the Darias Inferno shortcut and type /DontFade at the end of the line labeled Target."

Well I typed "/DontFade" at the end of the command line and the computer said thaat it was an invalid command. Anyone know what to do? I'd greatly appreciate any advice on this. Thanks.

Did you try updating your video card drivers? That might be the overall problem.

Did you include a space between DariasInferno.exe and /DontFade ? "Invalid command" usually means the command name itself wasn't recognised, assuming it was Windows and not the game which gave the error message.

I'll try that out tomorrow. The customer service people finally e-mailed me back but it's a little late for me to deal with it tonight. Thanks for the suggestion.

Thank you! That was the problem. I FINALLY got past the first level. That Upchuck was getting to be a real pain in the ass.

I knew that computer science degree would come in handy one day....

How'd you do that? I can't pick up Mrs Barch's whip, and while I've made it to O'Neill's desk without it, I can't wake him up.

You don't wake him up. You have to get the pills in the other side of the room. There's an Upchuck there that keeps walking back and forth in front of it(and will follow you if you make it by him). I FINALLY got passed him and later found out about the whip. That could've saved some time.

To get the whip you have to pass by Barch's "bench", go over to a door, open it and press the button that's behind it. That'll lower the bench so you can take the whip.

I finally spotted the pills - and got them without the whip - but thanks! I've realized the secret to this game is to always go to the far edge of spaces - the door in Barch's room, the pills, and the roller-coaster entrance are all things I missed the first few times through because I didn't walk far enough.

Now I'm in Degas Street, and I'm pretty sure I've walked all over it - so how do I get Brittany out of the bathroom?

She needs to color her hair, so look for some hair dye. Just watch out for the dogs....

And don't forget to unplug the band on your way out.

Definitely, even a Mystik Spiral loop gets nervewracking in the first place (Not that I liked the band in the first place, but still).

One thing that really got me was that there wasn't much of a difference after both plugs were pulled. The crowd still looked like mindless zombies standing there while Max was beating the drums like nothing happened.

Great, now I wanna put a bullet in Trent's skull. That's a new one on me. :-P
