I thought it was interesting that last night's episode was less
about Daria and more about Quinn, Kevin and Brittany and the growing
antagonistic relationship between Helen and Sandy's mom (actually, as I
recall Helen didn't get along too famously with Mrs. Landon either).
� Jake was his usual hilarious self. I love it when he flies
off the handle. His ineffectual parenting skills and his tendency to
dwell upon his childhood shortcomings are consistently funny.
� Sandy's rivalry with Quinn seems to be bubbling. Tiffany
continues to play both sides like the sneeky b-tch she is. She doesn't
care so much who wins, she just wants to align herself with the winning
side.
� For the second time, Brittany actually showed a germ of
intelligence. Kevin once again reaffirms our belief that he is actually
as profoundly stupid as he behaves.
The small bit at the very end where Daria and Jane tell a crowd
of spectators about how awful the real medieval actually were, was
quite amusing.
None of this made up for what amounts to a nearly Daria-free
episode. You essentially could have removed Daria from the script
entirely and still had a viable story to tell. Of course we all love
Daria and Daria is the reason why we watch the show. So this, for me,
was less than a favorite episode.�Steven Mc Allister
